All times in EST +10:30 for IST.
it pains to note some of the alltime best compositions, lyrics and rendering have not been recognised at our national level.(TFM)
MSV/TKR never got any award for any of their immortal songs as MDs.
TMS deserved awards for Vasantha mullai, sindanai sai maname,Paatum naane and several other MGR/Sivaji songs.
MSV going alone deserved awards for anbe vaa, ulagum sutrum vaaliban,Apoorva ragangal,Nizhal nijamakirathu, Pattina pravesam, varumaiyin niRam sivappu and Ninaithaley inikkum.
IR should have got awrds for kavikkuyil, payangaL mudivadhillay, kaadal oviyum ,azhage unnai aaradhikkiren, vaidehi kaathirundhaL,karakatakaran, chinna thambi, NizhagaL, kizhakku vaasal, keladi kaNmNi, varusham padinaaru, thalapathy, ejamaan, paadum nila etc.
ARR should have got award for Duet.
SPB has perhaps the distinction of not getting any award for his most memorable performances in TFM starting with
1. AAyIRAM nilave vaa
2. AvaL oru navarasa nadakam
3. KadavuL amaithu vaitha Medai
4. Vaan nila Nila Alla..
5. Nalladhor VeeNai saidhe-(Varumayin..)
6. Many songs in PayangaL mudivadhillai
7. idhu oru ponmaalai pozhuthu.
8. Pani Vizhum malar vanam
9.Paadi parandha kiLi
10. MaNNil Indha kaadal
11. Ilakanam maarudho
12. Unakenna mele nindrai
13.Sangeetha Jaadhi mullai

15. paada kolusu paadi varum
16.chinna chinna thooral enna
17.konji konji alaigal oda
18. en kaadale en kaadali
19 veLLi nilave..veLLi nilave
20.saadhi malli poocharame
21 nenjukkuLLe innar endRu
22. unnai ninaichen paatu padhichen
23. Malare mounama..
24.chinna maaNi kuyile
25. unnai paartha pinbu naan..
26. Kaetten
I think many of theabove deserved National awards
any more songs could be added to the list.
KJY deserved awards for adisaya raagam, Sindhu Bhairavi-songs.

I thought BOTH Yesudas and Chitra had got National Award for Sindhubhairavi, and also hadnt MSV got it for Apoorva Raagangal? VJ did get the award for the evergreen Ezhu swarangalukkul.

infact the first national award for best singer went to SPB for a thamizh song is for thangaththaamarai magaLae from Minsaara Kanavu, though he deserved for better songs from earlier movies. But he got the award far before in Telegu, Hindi and Kannada (not sure about malayaaLam).

He got one for Ek dooje ke liye. And his recent NA has been for a kannada film.

KJY didn't get NA for SindhuBhairavi while KSC & IR got. IMHO, KJY deserved for that film too.

I don't understand. IMHO, even today, SPB is THE singer in India. In fact, his voice is getting better day by day (usually, voice deteriorates as one gets older - for SPB, it is the reverse - atleast for now, and I hope, atleast my lifetime).

THe only noticeable factor in SPB's recent songs is the slight reduction in bass. If he can sing a "saththamillaadha thanimai kEttEn" type song at this age, god bless him with more life than he is destined to have. His fans will never get tired of hearing this genius.

Lover HH should have treatment 4 his voice, I think his nose is blocked, You are right HH should got the award the best nasalist singer in IMF, nou doubt!
Pls do not talk about 3rd grade singers in to this forum, this about the IMF legend SPB, great KJY & M.Rafi!!!
MS;
What's this abt a slight reduction in SPB's bass, u r kidding right?, have u listened to "Rasiga, rasiga" from star, when he sings that bit "antha mumjayin ", what an awsome bass, which can not be matched by any singers in IMF!!!

Sirkali Govindarajan without a doubt deserved a national award for a song in "Chittoor Rani Padmini" (Sivaji sings and Vyjayanthimala dances) and for "EngirunthO vanthaan" in "Padikkaatha Methai".
TMS deserved national awards for so many of his songs. Did he ever get any?
"Paadum vandae", "Megame Megame" by Vani Jayaram,
"Kaadhoduthaan naan paaduven","Pattaththu Rani" by LR Eswari, "Evano oruvan vaasikkiraan" by Swarnalatha, "aththaan en aththaan" and many many more by P.Susheela, Annakkili, Kavikkuyil and Uyire Unakkaaga songs by S.Janaki, all well deserved a national award.

Neel:
Of course all the songs u've mentioned are really great - no doubt.
Yet, I feel these award did not EXACTLY ELUDE our artists - in the sense that there are so many beautiful songs being produced by so many singers and MDs in so many different languages (nearly 15 lang.) - so deciding for the best is often so subjective.
Think of it, even if we were to choose amongst 10 great songs as to which is the best, it would be so difficult. And after all, only ONE song can get a National award, isnt it?
Another thing - I feel the movies that have flopped also contain great songs - that do not become famous. These rarities are quite often better than the "superhits".

Greetings LV & every body
SPB should have got more national awards than he got now, that is a pity, but the funniest thing is , I heard shnker got the national award for "enna solla pookirai" from kandu konden kando konden (is it true), I think that stinks.
By the way Dr.SPB has been singing for 32 years, yet his only national award for tamil song is "thankathamarai maghale", is that true?
I know he had national awards for telugu & hindi.

yes SPB got a national award for a tamil song first and only time for thangathamarai....
the only tme earlier he was to have been considered by the National Jury was in 1980 for varumayin niRam Sivappu- for "theertha kariyenile".
this was veteoed by the casting vote of Chappathi-Shantaram.
It is a pity his outstanding songs in Tamil under KVM/MSV/IR and even ARR(in the beginning) were not considered good enough by the Jury.
What is so great about 'EnnavaLE' that UK got an award straight away.
that is the lopsided way these awards are decided.

ennavale adi ennavale by UK does not deserve national award at all, I strongly feel disgusted abt the fact SPB's first national award is 4 thankathamari maghale, SPB should have had atleast 20 national awards in his 32 years of service, this national awards business sucks!!!
How many National awards did KJY get 4 tamil songs???, next time, the national awards will go to nasalist legends like, hh,uk,Udit,Srinivas & shanker, even deva might get a national award for his "gana" songs!!!.
Long live SPB, the greatest singer in IMF!!!

HFM has gone for manly voices ? Do you know why SPB was made to playback for Salman Khan right from the "Maine Pyar Kiya" days ? It was only bcos the so-called macho looks of Salman needed a voice that would enhance that image. This was repeated in many other films. Mission Kashmir had SPB renditioning for Sanjay Dutt - MANLY VOICE = SPB only !!
I totally Agree with this SPB=MANLY VOICE & SPB has been singing mainly for salman khan in HFM!!!
Long live the legend
