Kamal - Singeetam new thriller ???

Hi friends,

I read this on music india online, in an article abt Singeetam turning 75 and completing 50 years in film-dom. That's good news, didn't know he was around for such a long time, cause I was of the opinion that he started films in late 70s and early 80s (kamal's raja parvai, apoorva, mmkr and a series of rajkumar movies in kannada).

Now, the article also says..

He is at present working on a film with Kamal Haasan, which is being made both in Kannada and Tamil. It does not have a heroine "and is a thriller", he discloses.

This is sort of a rariry, Kamal acting in Kannada after a really long time, and the movie made in Tamil and kannada. The last that Kamal acted in a Kannada production was the silent movie Pushpaka vimana/vimanam/vimanamu..
and earlier in some KB movies made in both Kan and Tam.

Now MIO is known for goofing up news. I know abt krishna leela coming out of Kamal's production house, a comedy with heroines, directed by Singeetam. Is MIO confused ??

Please let me know if anyone has any clue abt this "thriller" movie.

  Thanks, cinefan. the MIO article is probably copy pasted from the sify's. It just adds that this is made in Kannada and Tamil. Anyways, it'll be great to watch a Kamal thriller(i enjoyed kalainjan, tik-tik-tik, soora samhaaram) in a heroine-less (so hopefully song 'n dance less) movie.

  Marudhanaayagam was shelved coz the american/french/japanese finance corporations that were ready to invest in the production and distribution of "Marudhanaayagam", backed off after the saffron thugs exploded te nuclear bomb in on May 12, 1998, following the economic sanction imposed on india by these nations.
  
  Since then kamal hasnt been able to rope in international financiers since - the budget was revised as 40 crores in 2001, and it should be closer to 50 crores as of now.
  
  Ateast 25 minutes of the movie has been aleady shot, which has already cost him close to 10 crores. Another 175-180 minutes needs to be shot. The final product is estimated to run a little more than 200 minutes, although it might be reduced to 180 minutes or 3 hrs.
  
  The script and the executive productio plans are all ready; the inventory is ready.
  
  Kamal has to find that evading 40-50 crores finance from somehwere. I hope and wish he will.
  
  "Yusuf Khan Sahib" aka "Marudhanaayagam' is a history that needs to be told to this century's India; its more relevant now than ever before.
  
  Its the story that would shatter every religious masks in india - of all colors and hues, and bring out the true face of our past.
  
  He made "Hey Ram", the most daring Indian film ever made, and nature willing kamal would rewrite history.

  I back your sentiments on hey Ram and Kamal as a whole...but why bring the nuclear issue here with a disgust...Do you feel that Marudhanayagam was more important that a govt decision on a strategic issue? You might have difference of opinion with Govt. but you cannot blame it for the fate of some thing miniscuel as films.

  By watching recent Kamal movies, I thought he is replacing S.V.Sekher... as a comedian in lead role...
  
  Come on guys... Kamal has gone nuts.. I have seen a good movie from him for a long time.. (Anbe Sivam is one exception, that too was spoiled by Kamal to some extend .. when comparing to the Original)

  Kamal is great artist. No doubt. But even if he could raise 50 crore to Marudunayagam, who is ready to see Kizha Marudu Nayagam(Kamal has lost his charms. Looks like he did not understand that).

  nemo - kudos to your comments - but I strongly protest against/disagree with your comments on India's decision to explode the nuclear bomb in Pokhran - your statement implies that the bomb went off with the sole intention of jeopardising "marudhanayagam" project !
  
  please desist from using strong words like "saffron thugs" etc - I am no RSS/VHP/Sangh Parivar guy, but let us desist from getting political here
  
  as for Marudhanayagam project itself, a close source heard from Karthick Raaja, that the first 20 minutes that have been shot are out of this world, including a single shot in which there is a horse race scene with a severely wounded Kamal falling into a gushing river and then carried over a waterfall - only to be targeted by an eagle that picks up a small piece of flesh from Kamal's unconscious figure - something like this - looks like Kamal is out to get an Oscar at the least!

  :) for nemo , marudhanayagam film is more important than our country's security.. how strange..most of our ppl are like this only i guess....giving toooooooooooo much preference to entertainment industry.........
  
  
  remember a dialogue in anbeysivam (railway scene with maddy) whree he criticises maddy about his lifestyle, job and in general free trade policy (velinaatukaaran veesura.... ) is this bcoz kamal got frustrated that he cud nto get sufficient funds from foriegn or ithu chumma padathuku matum adikkara dialogue ah?

  i think the dialogue went very well with the character Kamal played in the movie.Somehow people confuse dialogues in movies with the actors personal opinions.
