As some people have mentioned in some of their discussion, there are a lot of nonsense lyrics in Tamil songs. Can we discuss some?
In Kamalahassan's Vikram, there is one whole verse sung in nonsense. The song is En jodi manja kuruvi.
I loved Kakakakikikikukakakeykukukukeykey in Singara Velan!
Another Kamalahasan song is Marugo marugo marugoyi
Remember "Jaanku jakku janakku jakku jaanku jakku jaahn"?
I wonder what is the inspiration behind these songs?

"En jodi manja kuruvi" lines are supposed to be in
some language rhyming with Mesapatomiyaa,
invented by Gangei Amaran.

Strange lyrics and their composers:
Dinggiri dinggaley Meenachi - ??
Ikuchay ikuchay ikuchaya - IR
Kuluvaliley Muthu - ARR
Sikapu Lolaku (the beginning) - Deva

If you see the movie, you'll know that
Kuluvali is the name of a place in Kerala.
Deva has used some Rajasthani folk song in the
beginning of sivappu lolaakku.
How come noone is taking up "lolaakku dol dappimaa"?

All this time we have been concentrating on lyrical nonsense. How about factual-nonsense for a change? I don't remember how this song starts nor the movie (it is a duet came in 92 or 93). One piece of lyrics in this song goes like this;
'muzhichirundhu moonam pirai pathu' - As far as I know 'moonam pirai' (third day moon after Amavasai) stays only for a brief time (30 mts) on the horizon early in the evening (6:30 - 7:30). One doesn't have to 'muzhichhu' to see moonam pirai. Any comments?

To Ravi:
In the song "poomalai vangi vandhal" in Sindhu Bhairavi, the verses
"kaiyil kinnam pidithuvittan
kudikkindran koppaiyai udaithuvittan
....
Manathin Manathai vangivittan".
"Manathin manathai vangivittan" - The kavignar seems to go in a cyclic loop to explain what manam, rosham, soodu, suranai etc. When you think these words you mind will be busted.
Reg. Muzhichirundhu song what I understand is that in Winter waking up early is difficult and probably the kavignar meant that. 8.00 manikku muzhikkum makkalai neengal parthathe illayo!

I remember the song and the movie now. Ada mAnamaduraiyile maliigapoou - kovil kaLai. Again 'moonam pirai' can be seen only in the early EVENING (i think you read that as morning). Kavignar just wanted to have a rhyming 'mu' in that line. That's all

"Pandiyanin Raajiyathil Uyyalala" song is not nonsense. "Uyyalala" means prosperity. "Uy" in Tamil means "to flourish".

There are some songs which appears to have
some lyric but will be absolute crap. like
one in vaigasi porandachu
thennai ilam pooveduthu oduginra thendralaipol
un noolidayil nool eduthu noorukadai nan sollava
(some thing like this)
what ?? thendral, thennai, nool, kathai ??
'tottabetta rotula mutta batotta' is better than
this.

How about
Oh Ranga Sri Ranga kopparai thengai
from Singara Velan written by the King Of Nonsense
The Great Gangai Amaran.
50% of G.A's lyrics are nonsense lyrics.
To start :
Vaadi En kappa kizhange - A.Oyvathillai
Paapa Rooba Dilruba - Pooncholai
Naghma Naghma - Poonchalai
Vairamuthu's junk :
Thee Thee thikkum thee - Thiruda Thiruda

Aynilo Pakkiriyama by NSK and TAMathuram. NSK supposedly sings in a foreign language. In the middle of the song he sings in 'Ka' na bashai.
'Ka'Vaa 'Ka'Th 'Ka'thu - means Vaththu (duck). You add a Ka before every letter. This song is hilarious.
- From: Aravind (@ 202.42.152.8)
on: Wed Jul 30 23:24:01 EDT 1997
'pakiriyaamaa' also has something else. He says 'oraiyilE thakkaaru'!! It means 'tharaiyilE okkaaru'. Write 'tharaiyilE okkaru' in thamizh and swap the first letters of the two words. You get 'oraiyilE thakkaaru'. I won't call it junk.
Morover words (phrases) like 'uyialaalaa', 'kakakaakikikUku', 'laalaakku dOL dappi', 'vaadi en kappakizhangE' etc can be excused because they are just filler words added for fun. mElum, thalaivar paattai non-sense endRu kURuvathai naanum (alongwith Satish Subramanian) kadumaiyaaka aatchEbikkiREn.
'Real' nonsense is, as rightly pointed out by PG, 'thee thee thiththikkum thee' and the alike. Vairamuthu is an uncrowned emperor in this. Look at this song 'thenmERkkup paruvakkaatRu' from 'karuththammaa'
naan endRum nee endRum iru vaarthai illaamal naam endRa Or vaarthai uNdaanathE (ada!! paravaayillaiyE!!)
aaN endRum peN endRum iru vaarthai illaamal aaL endRa Or vaarthai uNdaanathE
What does this mean?
One can quote many such instances like 'telephOn maNilOl'. Like 'dhindukkal' I Leoni asked in a pattimanRam, 'oru poNNu telephOn maadhiri sirichchaa, avaLai evanaavadhu kattuvaanaa?'
Like his vulgar-phrases list, the nonsense-phrases list is also very long

Aravind,
Vairamuthu's line in "Karuthamma" is
"aan endrum pen endrum iru vaarthai ondraagi,
thaai endra or varthai undaanadhey"
Idhu nonsense ya?

I think this song in "Amaran" was written only for nonsense:
Sande bajaaru mama konja ushaaru
altappu rani akasha vani
kultappa pona thangathu meni
iravum paganulam nadakkum inge thaana(?) bajaaru
bombaiyi bala jigiri dhosthu
koltappu lala bada joru
- sariyana cheri song!
And in the song
"chalakku chalakku selai" - does "chelakku" have any meaning?
In
"jimpa jayapaditha panidiyanthaan,
adi jimpa edhirpa romba parthavanthaan"
- jimpa edhuthukko?
And,
"Marugo marugo marugayi
Jorugo jorugo jorugayi"
- is this any indian language other than tamil?

"Marugo marugo" is supposed to be some
Goan song(kongani).
Aravind, 'laalaakku dol dappi' filler
phrase-nu sonnaa, ithukku enna solrathu

Satish
You have confused me. naan pala thadavai andha paattai kEttirukkEn. I still think that it is 'aaL' and not 'thaai'. Even if it is 'thaai', is it not irrelevent, though not non-sensical. That 'karuththamma' song has 'thai' not 'AaL' Anyway 'thai' makes more sense that 'AaL'. Probably vairamuthu meant that the role of a 'thai' has no gender. I'm simply guessing.

song from some Vijay starrer.
A few songs from recent Karthik starrers had songs written by a newcomer named Kalidhasan (what a name to write junk, He should probable use Kalamegam's name). This guy wrote a song (in Pisthaa) with 108 names of edibles and in another movie he wrote a song with 108 amman names.

I do agree with you guys, sometimes it is rubbish
written by tamil movie song writers but are they going to change, !!! NEVER!!!, I think. LEONY had
been telling this for a long time, any improvement. What about some words in the some devotional songs, like kantha shashti kawasam.
words like ra ra ra ra and so on, that also does not carry any meaning but it was written few thousand years ago. Do any of you like to commenton that.
