Hi I didn't see much about singer Swernalatha in TFM discussion page. Any one has any info about her? Why don't you share it here?

Swarnalatha-
Excellent singer with clear diction,Accent & Very good High Pitch Voice Used suitably by MD’s
To mention Deva,Arr give more chances than others
Now bharani is giving regularly
Introduced by MSV in Neethiku Dhandanai with KJY she shang the Bharathiyaar Song Chinnanjiriya Vanna Paravai
Then she Got a chance in Gurushishyan (the Seetha drinking &dancing number)
Thriipura sundhari naane
But she Was Identified as a singer from the Song “Maalayil Yaaro Manadhodu Pesa”
From Satriyan Music my Isaignani IR.
That song was amazing and excellently rendered by SL.
Then Came the chinnathambi song after few yrs
Which was an uplift in her career
Povoma Oorkolam took herself in a procession in the TFM Industry
From then she sang all types of songs Mostly all were hits.
To list few
For IR she sang povoma oorgolam,Rajadhi raja un thandhirangal, aatama Therottama etc
For ARR-Porale Ponnuthaye,Mukkala Mukabala,Kadhalenum thervezhudhi, Poongatrile,Kulirudhu Kulirudhu,Kuchi Kuchi rakkamma,yevano oruvan(best)
Many songs
Recently Bharani has given 2 good numbers
1. thuli thuliyai from P.O.Podhume with Hariharan
2. Mudhalam sandhippil-CharlieChaplin with Unnikrishnan
She’s one of the Best singers with excellent Talent.
She should be used effectively than Sadhna Sargam, anuradha sreeram etc

raj,
I too agree with you abt SL's high pitch rendition..she is good at it..but proper pronouncitiation?mm..i doubt..she seems to be nasal sometimes and hence not clear words..
In expressing the baavams..particularly sad songs..she is very good..
appuram "ennulle ennule" from "valli" vittuteengaley? That was the most discussed song in newtfmpage i think..:-))
But singing wise "maalayil yaaro" stands out better than anything..nice smooth flow to diff pitches..second comes the award winning pathos "pooraley ponnu thaayi"..AIMVHO..

"Rakkamma kaiya thattu"- Thalapathi... that song put her in limelight b4 "chinnathambi" happened..

If you hear one song from Kaadhal Kottai sung by Swarnalatha pictured on Heera, you will change the opinion that she's good when singing in high pitch!

Thanks Raj.
I agree with you. There is no doubt that she is an expellant singer. She did a good job in lot of songs. Also I think she got some awards for her songs. But still it's seems like that she is not much popular like other singers (Anuratha Sriram, Harini...etc) who came to the Tamil film industry after her. That's what I'm always wondering.

I rate "Aattama Therottama" from Captain Prabhakaran as the best of Swarnalatha. This made her very popular. Also the Muquabla from Kadhalan was also good

Swarnalatha and Chitra studied together in Music College and Swarnalatha was awarded the best female singer in the final year. Chitra got the 2nd place. Still Chitra made it to the cine field well before Swarnalatha.
I read this in Kumudam a long time ago

Hi ash,
I think it is Singer Sunandha not SwarnaLatha.I had read this in Kumudham.I may be wrong.

That must have been Sunandha, not Swarnalatha. Highly impossible for Swarnalatha and Chithra to have been college-mates:-)

Aruvi,
When Chithra was in college she always stood top on any competition. In fact , she even won and secured a university talents search scholarship.I have never heard that Swarnalatha was a student of Women's college, Trivandrum where Chithra did her music degree.
The only other person who could compete with Chithra in those days was her elder sister Beena. However, Beena, although has sung some songs, did not select singing as a career.

One of Swarnaa's latest is "Muthalaam Santhippil naan..." in the movie Charlie Chaplin. She sings this with Unnikrishnan.
Can someone post the lyrics, as well as any direction where I can get a hold of the karaoke version? Thank you kindly.

Please note that I don't need the lyrics to "Muthalaam Santhippil naan..." .. Thanks.
