LISTEN, Rahman calls tune for poor


" Listen" is a unique international project which aims to raise $ 99 million for downtrodden children of the third millennium. Rahman is composing a track for the album which will be released this autumn. "Listen" has the support of 99 creative artists. They include film stars Brooke Shields, Liam Nesson, Vanessa Redgrave, Goldie Hawn, Jeff Bridges, Jamie Lee Curtis and Susan Sarandon; musicians Peter Gabriel, John Lee Hooker, Sting and Rehman; visual artists Jeff Koons, Sheela Gowda and Robert Wilson, and songwriters Diane Warren and Lamont Dozier.



Ekam Satyam - Munich Concert


Melodious strains of 'Satyameva Jayate' (Truth alone shall Triumph) by music wizard A.R.Rahman provided an appropriate icing to an enchanting concert by pop king Michael Jackson in Munich in aid of the world's poor children. In the fusion experiment promoted by the Hinduja Family, Rahman and his fellow artistes including Shobana and Prabhudeva, rung the curtains down on the nine-hour open air concert after Jackson electrified a 55000 strong audience with his famous numbers including 'We are the world' at the gigantic Olympic Stadium. Jackson who briefly joined the finale performance with the Indian troupe gave a rendition of the English translation of the Sanskrit verse and Rahman's number 'Ekam Satyam'(One Truth) with folded hands wearing a white outfit designed by Indian fashion designer Manish Malhotra.






Ponniyin Selvan


A.R.Rahman is all set to enter the small screen with the mega serial based on Kalki's ``Ponniyin Selvan!'' The serial is slated to telecast in April on SUN TV. The serial stars Vijayakumar, M N Nambiar, K.R. Vijaya, and Gouthami among other. Vairamuthu handles the lyrics.
