a common feature in almost all the threads running here is the lowering standard of tamil lyrics. But who is to blame is it the lack of good lyricist, or is it interference of music directors or is it the directors of today lack musical sense.May be it is the fast food era that has made music a commodity to be marketed and not that should be felt & retained in the heart & grey cells.Or is it the public which laps up anything. let us have afree discussion

The lyrics would have automatically become better had PS sung those songs. Since PS has retired, the standard of the songs have plummetted"
How does presence or absense of a singer affect the quality of lyrics.
Please dont take this personally, I request you

x, true. A "poetic" presentation makes all the difference. Eg:-
nee sellum ... ANgaLai vidamAttEn
sila peNgaLai vida mAttEn....
sounds so ordinary in 'telephone maNippOl...'
But the foll. song by KD, tuned by R. Govardhanam (sung by PBS) is very different....
un azhagai kaNdu koNdAl
peNgaLukkE Asai varum
peNgaLukkE Asai vanthAl
en nilamai enna solvEn
This is no VM bashing/KD praising attempt, I am just being faithful to what my memory throws up :).

Mr Observer, how about this:
`kaNNu padappOguthu kattikkadi sElaiya
poNNukkE Asai varum pOttukkadi ravikkaiya' (some LRE song, another homo no.)
vulgar or not?

ellAm satyam, please read the last line of my post. Are you going to keep coming up with old KD 'vulgar' songs to counter my point? The point I am trying to make is, a good presentation often camoflauges the potentially 'unprintable'. Please leave it at that.
