  I think i shoudl go with Dilse & Uyire..
  
  i still remember my friend went to watch Uyire...even without knowing who the hero is...just because tehy liked the msuic so much
  
  furthermore...ti became hit...both in Hindi and Tamil...
  
  May be we should name ARR as..."Kannagi" AR Rahman..
  
  just because he can set the whole India on "fire" with his songs....

  RAHMAN'S TUNES HAVE EXTREMELY HIGH VALUE.
  IT IS MARKETABLE IN TAMIL, MALAYALAM, TELUGU, HINDI AND EVEN ENGLISH.

  His tunes are highy sort after. Producers buy them wholesale. Andrew Lloyd wanted the original tunes. So, what Ramana says is correct.
  
  Unfortunately, Ilayaraja is on the other end of the scale. Nobody wants a repeat of his tunes, when they are already unsahikkable in the first instance.

  As I have posted in another thread composers used to take the trouble of tuning a fresh set of songs everytime a movie was remade. MSV did this bigtime. I forgot to add MSV's Engiruntho VanthaaL (Khilona) and Prarthanai (a remake of I forget which Hindi movie starring Sunil Dutt and Nutan) both outstanding scores. IR produced a memorable score in the Tamil remake of Amanush - matching - Kishore's Hindi "Yeh dil ne kisi ne mera toda.." with an outstanding TMS "Nallavanukkellam satchigaL rendu..". More recently IR produced great scores for the Tamil Veera - remake of the Keeravani/Kreem/Maragathamani tuned Alluri Mogudu. I have mentioned earlier how SPB tuned the Telugu remake of "Kizhakke Pogum Rail". But these days the tune is marketed all over and catches on so well that producers want the same song not fresh ones. Even the great Andrew Weber wanted ARR to merely redub his songs into English. ARR wouldn't have it and insisted on some fresh tunes. Even the Hollywood projects he has netted are for his present tunes. They want to just redub them and cut and paste as necessary. They fear given his method of working he might demand so much that he will upset the entire pay structure in the Musicians Union! Incidentally ARR is planning a full scale acoustic chamber piece for his next project and plans to go acoustic entirely for the next few movies!

  If kathir is ditching ARR then that wud be the most unfaithful thing that he can do... ARR actually financed for Kadhal Virus and helped Kathir when in distress... his stupid movie "Kadhal Desam" was made a hit by ARR only and not to mention his Idiocity with "kadhalar Dhinam" which was again saved by ARR... anyway i'll be happy if kathir leaves ARR....

  Why didn't ARR music for Yoddha (Malayalam) and Daram Yoddha (Hindi), guess there was a tamil version too, received a huge response, as his other stuff!
  I think the tunes are good compared to some of his latest tunes!

  Yoddha was dubbed in Tamil also in the name of "Ashokan" but the movie did not go well. This was ARR's 2nd movie.
