After Mitr my friend, we have not really heard from her. Aside from the odd song she sings for her family now and again, she has quietened down in TFM. Does anybody have any ideas?

Bhavatharini is all set for her debut as a composer in Telugu with the film "Avunaa" which is releasing soon. People in India tell me that the trailers that have already come out show some songs and they sound good. We'll see how this movie fares and what it brings for her - more movies or a duck-out.

I thought that like many females in the cine industry, her husband has forbidden her from working after marriage.

I don't think she is married, but all the news about YSR's marriage is going around so maybe we didn't hear about her marriage.

Hi i am also afan of Bavadharani and when I was in India I heard her music for a TV serial. It was really nice. And also I knew that her Album which comes in the TV(2,3 yrs before)on every august 15th."Kalai kattrai kelungal"about our country and she appeard on that album.I didn't hear the other songs, but I also knows that she is older than Yuvan and she taught him more.So she defenitely shines and as a girl I am giving a warm welcome to her for the debut telugu film as a first female music director in south India

Bhavatharini is not the first woman film music director in the south. It was first Bhanumathi, then S.Janaki, followed by M.M.Srilekha (music composer Keeravani's sister) after whom comes Bhava. I don't know if I missed someone else. VJ, PS, SVaralakshmi and PLeela have also composed music but for private albums (devotional mostly).
I am more interested in how she applied her classical western music knowledge here (or not!) because Mitr didn't give her much scope for experimentation.

Thanks Kaumudi.
I really meant that she may going to be a first popular female music director in south.M.M srileka or (Manimegali?) composed for Nalaiya theerpu(vijay's debut film)but after that she didn't try any films.(i think may be she did)
But others are not doing any films.Even Singer Anuradha Sriram also a good composer (Chennai fgirl) and now she is doing with her husband(5 stars). So i didn't mean the very first but I thought she may be going to be a 1st successful female music director in films. But let us see how she will manage films. How is her mithru?where i can hear that music?(songs or Soundtrack)

Bhava's background score for Mitr was good, the movie is good and worth a watch.

Even the songs for mitr are good, but bhavatharini only scored 4 of the 8 songs. The other 4 were scored by a northie md.
Avunaa is an average album, I wouldn't go so far to say it is good. Many songs have been copied from older songs.

Kaumudi can you give a link throwing more info on SriLekha? I once heard a song by her at a friend's place, she's got a really good voice and also learnt she found a place in Guiness for being the youngest to compose music...has she sung any in tamil?

Prabhu
Here is a link of one her interviews in print - http://www.telugufilmserver.com/sri_lekha.shtml
I know she composed a lot and sang in some of her movies apart from other music composers' compositions. AFAIK, Lady luck did not smile on her. One of her big movies is Taj Mahal in which she tried to do some nice music. Unfortunately, the movie wasn't a big hit and Srilekha was left with composing small budgeted movies. She is still doing music for films every once in a while.

Unfortunately, I am not aware of any site that hosts these songs. I know that the movie has Kuzhaloothi manam ellam (Oothukadu's song)in its opening scenes when Shobana gets married and all that.

Being an all female project, I presume there are no male singers in Mitr.

No Mythila, Shaan has sung a song in the movie. As stated before, Bhava only scored for 4 songs, the other 4 songs were scored by a male MD.

mitr was a nice movie when we were watching rubbish that the industry was putting out.. i think women directors are more bold in doing projects that might flop or hit it big and revathis work paid off... bhavatharini proves to be better composing than singing(which i am sure many will agree) i did not know there was a song called gimme hugs? i heard the cd recently and was shocked that an indian girl had sung the song ,"sunita sarathy". who is she and were is she from?and were does the song come in the movie.i recently have started liking her voice even more after listening to her song from kakka kakka the police,"thu thu varuma" music haris jeyaraj.

Did anyone get a chance to listen to "Kuch pal" from her Hindi album "Phir milenge". It is on MIO. While the whole album is a good collection some lovely melodies (one by Bombay Jayashree as well!), Bhava also concentrated on pure melody. I quite liked the song. And Vijay Yesudas was a surprise to me. He sounds good, a little bit like his father in the 70s, but generally fresh and new. His overall pronunciation/accent is quite acceptable for a debut.
Overall I think Bhava did a decent job within her confines.
