The song is based on the famous Aabhogi Varnam, 'Evvari BOdana'.
The interludes are good, but could have been given some 'Azhuttam'! The instrumental pieces are heard somewhere in a distant background. (a la ARR).
Who's the female voice? Bombay Jayshree?? Her rendering wasn't very soothing to the ears.

I didn't answer you previously.
SVS may have done a little overacting(though not like other actors of the 60s), but the image created is difficult to erase. No idea who acted as Sellamma.
=== end digression.
This songs looks very filmish(???). I think it is UK & Nityashree.

Neels, I agree with you.
The YSR's song is a blatant take off from the abohi varnam and words have been "thrust" into the tune.. especially with words like "raama raama". I couldnt get the lyrics at the first listening, but they seem to have been "thrust and fitted into" the tune, and also all the swarams have been generously borrowed from the original spource. The song is a disgrace to TFM.
Wish YSR learns some creativity and non-copy code from his father and follow his footsteps.
Its surprising how famous carnatic singers like UK and Nitysri (who would certainly know the fundamental source of this song) agree to sing such stupid numbers.

Chandy,
If one can accept "Alyaipayuthe" rendered with synth beat and someone here had even rated it 8/10, am not sure why you should call this a disgrace to TFM. This seems to be a biased opinion. I liked the insturmentation and probably Nithyashree's singing seems a lot to be desired. Overall a different song and a nice attempt.

Anand,
Please understand the difference between taking the original song as it is.. and giving it in a nice package... and lifting a song, thrusting some new lyrics, that too in a most stupid manner.
Alaipayuthe didnt murder the original lyrics and did not spoil the original song... It was rendition of old song as it is with extra instrumental additions...
Look at "yochana kamala lochana" in sindu bhairavi or "brocheva" in Sankarabharanam....Look at nee dayaraadha in Sindu bhairavi.. that attempt by IR was good. It was giving the old tune, in a slightly different package, with instrumental additions.
This YSR song is definitely not to classified with brocheva, alaipaudhe and such numbers. The YSR song seems to be a very cheap imitation of its original. It shows lack of creativity and desparateness to compose something "classical".. Another song which is similar to this ramma raama YSR song is a number on "namadhu nagaram - Calcutta" sung by UK which is just a direct take off of the famous carnatic keertana "ragu vamsa sudha". That song is another disgrace to TFM!!!

if the song is maama maama srihari rama, it is not a song of TFM. it is from the album blast, sung by UK and nithyashree. the song has horrible lyrics. it roughly goes like,
maamaa maamaa srihari raamaa,
scooter mEla beach pOyi varalaamaa.
Enmaa Enmaa kOchukkalaamaa
petrol velaiyum romba Erudhu aamaa..?
the song is not even worth discussing, IMO:-)

Chandy,
In ARR terminolgy,we can call it inspiration.Well, I definteltly wo'nt agree with you when you said that "Alaiapayuthe" was'nt murdered. I for one was totally offended by the synth beat and it really sucked.

bb, may be its the song from blast album
Anand, if you find this YSR song as creative, that's your opinion. According to me, the song STINKS!! You knew the classical alaipauthe song and the synth beats offened you when you listened to the song in its new avatar. But, have you listened to the original source of the YSR song...?? the abohi varanm?? and the similar "namadhu nagaram - cacultta" song and
its original "ragu vamsa sudha"? Try listening to the originals and try comparing it with the new, lifted ones.

Chandy avargale,
Song stinks, Cheap imitation...........konjam words a carefulla use pannanlame. That guy has a lot of competence and maybe this song is a blah blah to you. Even if a composer has blatantly copied, let's try to understand one thing; He/She has done what we have'nt (maybe some people in this forum like done ad composed songs like Srikanth). Please for heaven's sake, try to respect the composers and register our comments in a nice way.

chandy I feel there is no harm is using a classical song, if it is used in the right way...IMHO, arr has used it well
btw:anand what do you mean by synth beat ?

after hearing this songs, this is nothing great..singers sings as though they are in great hurry...words like buget are cut short in pronounciation...totally lacks melody...some grooves come in from somewhere...
we can see clearly see YSR is confused..fails badly in fusion. Lyrics...I dont call this as lyrics. not worth...discussing...

Srikanth,
I was referring to the beat which follows the "Alaipayuthe" song from the movie "Alaipayuthe".
The song has been rendered with absolute no change to lyrics or melody except for the beat which follows the song, which I think is one of the many samples which ARR has at his disposal. It did'nt sound appropriate to me, or probably ARR was forced into this due to movie situation. Anyway, it did'nt appeal to me.

Swami,

this argument is obviously invalid. you cant praise somebody because they are doing something you are not.. if they have faired well in their job.. they deserve. otherwise NO.

It is clearly the Abhogi varnam with some stupid lyrics. Even the mukthayi swarams are the same.
What one does not know if this is a pitiful attempt at composing for an equally pitiful situation in the film!
Now that YSR has got the ball rolling, can others ( you-know-who :-) ) be far behind with such blatant plagiarism?

diwakar, again, this is not for a film. this is from the album blast. please continue discussions here:
