  I understand from reliable sources that the thamizh puththAndu movie releases (involving Raaja's music) have done exceptionally bad at the box office!!
  
  On the one hand when we are talking about Raaja's resurgence on a commercial platform, though, technically, and in various aspects, his melody has been there and gaining in strength from time to time, his selection of producers/movies are deplorable. In fact, since 1976, he has been treading a path full of producers, directors, in spite of a neglible strength of creative movie makers (since 76!) around him.
  
  I believe 'veeraththAlAttu' walks away with the cake, as the movie seems loaded with songs, with Raaja opening the title with his 'kadhapOla'. It seems people walk out after listening to few of his songs and Swarnalatha's kadhapOla version is out of the movie!! The quality of the movie is such that even the diehard senti-loving fans of South are not able to bear it anymore. So, is it working in Raaja's favor? I guess not!!
  
  Another one from 'Touser' payyan Ramaraajan - "themmAngu pAttukkAran" walks away with the trophy "best among the worst" in recent times!! It seems this movie works around the ubiquitous antipannayAr-mother-sister-sentiment that which has haunted our movie goers in the last two decades after the advent of "grAmaththu" directors, and may be Raaja too!! I understand 'touser' appears bloated in one frame, thin in the other, thereby creating numerous ghostly images in the minds of the viewers. Added to the throes are Raajas senti-kind of songs that are tailor-made for touser. Further, I understand the mighty Raaja has scored good BGM in this movie and I am very happy that it shall go into thin air, unnoticed!!! Only if this amaran-touser-Raaja trio is forced out physically, shall my digestive system work peacefully. No amount of box office bombings can separate this trio!! One word? Its atrocious! Now, how many times can you fool the people? Raaja, pls wake up!! You are only fooling yourself!!
  
  Touser's another movie 'annan' is in line to be released! This release shall add to our growing throes about Raaja's 'over indulgence' like kids and chocolates with 'touser'.
  
  Next comes the talk about Raaja's new movies like 'kumbakOnam gOvAlu' and 'kavalaipadAthe sahOdharA'. Its again the kEyAr factor thats controlling Raaja. With kEyAr's movies 'kAdhal rOjAvE' sleeping, why should he agree to score movies for kEyAr? kumbakOnam gOvAlu is also from kEyAr!! The hero is the non-existent pAndiayarajan. Dont you think Raaja should check his spree of bookings?? And there are 'kannAththAL', 'sembulingam', etc., What is Raaja gonna do extra in these movies? Receive a few thousands less and make the movie a box office hit?
  Now you may say why shouldnt he score? Well, he can! But, he should ensure that these movies see the light after production!! If the movie is incapable of being released, what more can you say about the quality of stuff, it carries?? Look into the range of movies that are yet to be released:
  
  1. Pooncholai
  2. Punniyavathi
  3. kadhal rojave
  4. kanmani oru kavidhai (released?? if so who saw that movie?)
  5. kannALanE
  6. karuvElampookkaL (now this may be a docu. but still.....)
  7. themmAngu pAttukkAran saw the light last week and went back into oblivion!
  
  The film industry is, as such, in bad shape. Raaja cannot score mediocre music for thamizh movies, nor score great ones for movies that are not intented to be screened for ever. His sagacity is questionable, as the name, fortune, he has built all these years by scoring great music,
  may be sullied by his not so judicious ventures. He can as well concentrate in his ventures that have not been released, e la India 24 Hours(audio), Symphony etc.,
  
  His scores in Malyalam, telugu, kannada are enviable from the thamizhan stand point. NMH, kaliyoonjal, yathramozhi, Guru, etc., dont belong to the genre we are talking about. I hope you agree with me. Now, why cannot he use the same yardstick in thamizh?? His NMH is dubbed in thamizh as kangaLin vArthaigaL with
  quality of recording, voice, compromised. Now, the first time thamizh listener will not be surprised, as the sound quality is not different from Raaja's earlier cassette versions. But, guys who have listened to CD quality of NMH must be in for rude shock!! Now who is to blame?
  Dont you think Raaja is cheating the fans and taking them for a ride by
  
  1. not ensuring the proper delivery of a 'sound' product at the fan's hands nay ears. (His KM, ka maRiyAdhai, etc., may be different as regards recording quality, but then, how many of our people can afford this quality? Do our guys in TN use good equipment to record songs from the master CDs? I think they still follow the tape to tape version.
  
  2. not checking the credentials of also ran/one time producers/directors before accepting assignments!
  
  3. scoring music for movies left, right and center, in the first place not bothered about what the public, fans, etc., have to say!!
  
  4. scoring exceptionally good music for outside TN movies! (I think this is his way of 'veRuppEththu'fying our thamizh fans!)
  
  When he scores music so well in 'other language' movies at the rate of two or three movies per year, why not the same in thamizh?
  
  The recent news about the 'comeback' of the lead producers/directors (also rans) to Raaja's music shall only add more to his coffers......
  
  Well.......may be Raaja is a great musician, but, he is a much greater businessman. And, we fans might have failed to notice that.......and for a businessman, thamizh new year, telugu new year, diwali, onam are all the same. Withal,

  'vElai' is not that good,I was totally disappointed. Lets hope Yuvan will come up with some good music next time. Got KPS also, heard only once, that is too not impressive. I listened to 'laila laila' from 'kAthalA kAthalA', and I like the tune verymuch now. I think Karthik has done a better job in KK than NINI.
