The long forgotten LR Eswari.

Why have people here forgotten LR Eswari when she is probably the most talented singer TFM has ever produced.

  Even I am LRE fan. A small correction in your posting. Why have people here forgotten LR Eswari when she is probably one of the most talented rare singers TFM has ever produced?
  Some people used to criticize her by referring her as nightclub song singer. But they easily forget the singer sung with mukal munakals for silk (I like those songs too J ). We should not measure the talent in that way. LRE had proved so many different kinds of songs also.

  I have not heard much LRE at all. Can u tell me a list of her best ones - has she sung semiclassical songs (in Tamil,Telugu,Kannada or Malayalam) too. I love semiclassical music. Please do tell me.

  I resent the condescending title, "The long forgotten L R Eswari". Forgotten by whom? Any TFM listener who isn't stuck in a specific era will know and cherish LRE. Any worthwhile music store I've visited in U.S., Singapore, TN has had LRE CDs and MP3s. I suspect this holds true for Sri Lanka and Canada too. Radio stations haven't forgotten her. I've heard her songs in Mirchi and Sooriyan FM in TN just a few months ago.

  True that she was a talented singer but like all our South Indian singers recognition has not been there. One of her best numbers is "Kaathoduthaan naan paaduvEn...."from the movie 'Velli Vizha'.
  Recently I heard her singing the song "Masaka masaka cheekatilO.. Malle thota venakaala..."on stage in Chennai. Though age has changed her voice, the body language on stage remains the same. The number of female duets of her with Smt P Susheela still tops the female duets in Tamil films. She was the only playback artist singing all songs in the movie "Vaa Raja Vaa". One cannot forget "Pattathu rani..."in Sivandha Mann.

  its true that the music directors ignore her, but no body can compare the songs she have sungs. Its all really great.. I have one old casette, when ever I listen to the songs, its give a great feelings... her voice itself...

  What to do she has become old and even on the stage shows she turns down ardent listeners by overdoing things.
  
  People are ready to 'tolerate' and listen to her on the stage. But the way she dominates the stage with a screeching shout and dancing with unwanted glimpses, makes the listeners disgusting.
  
  She must keep up her esteem with the gems she has sung in TFM.

  LRE started singing in 1961 when she was 15 or so.She must be between 58&60.
