  I remember very well memo.. But, Vanna Kanavugal, in my opinion was not an art movie. There were usual doses of "masala" fight scenes, villains we have seen in a thousand other Tamil movies, etc.,. There were no songs, but I feel it's still your standard Tamil movie. "Mouna Raagam" is the closest Karthik has come to doing an art movie.

  The initial reports were that the MD of this movie was someone new, and the songs were just too amazing. I don't know why Mahesh is roped in now. In anycase, Mahesh is an un-noticed/un-recognized talent in TFM.

  Let's face it. Mahesh is not a known musician. He might be good, but he is no IR or ARR or even a Deva(popularity in this case). If P.C. Sriram had signed IR or ARR, maybe this movie would have gotten more publicity.

  What are you talking about Rajiv? Mahesh is a hundred times better than Deva, even though he has only composed a handful of movies. If given a chance, he could be up there with IR, ARR and others.

  "naan cheththu pozhachchavandaa...aemanai paarthu sirichchavandaa" indha paatta pala murai MD mahesh paadi irukkaaru...nijamaagavae...he was affected by cancer and came back with a bang then composed music for nammavar, kurudhi punal etc. If my memory serves correctly, this information was given by Kamal in an interview.
  
  Also, there is a rumour that IR asked kamal to use Mahesh for kurudhipunal when kamal had a plan to go for a non IR MD for kurudhipunal. Ofcourse kamal had already worked with Mahesh and I won't say that it is IR who recommended. It might be IR too concurred with Kamal over Mahesh's choice. And u know what a great BGM kurudhipunal had. IMHO, if the BGM wasn't so wonderful kurudhipunal would have become an art movie just like its original, inspite of having kamal.

  This is known fact. In Kurudhipunal, mostly all Mashesh is the MD, Mani Sharma is the main Key Board player. Mahesh used to have some medical problems, and Mani Sharma did most of the BGMs. It is also a fact that in Mani Sharma's films the BGMs are terrific.

  Hai Friends, This is a New User for this froum named Lakshman from Coimabatore. First of all i would like to thank Guru who is considered to be the soul of this forum and thank all the responser who is later going to be my good friends. Hi once again to everybody.
  Iam the Indepth fan of Mr.P.C.Sriram. Its been great to see him directing a movie named "Vanam Vasapadum" after long time. Iam eagerly waited for that. But unfortunately today the film is realeasing all over tamil nadu. But my bad luck the film is not yet released in Coimbatore. Bcoz not even a single distributor is willing to buy it seems.

  i sow the movie vaanam vasappudam not bad ya..... i think the screen play is not very well don.but sum guy called ranjith(the famus old director beemsingh's grand sun)i think he is don a good job in that movie.and the other guy avinash.he is aso don a good job ya.... i think they have don a very good job as a new commer.i hope u guys will aslo like their acting.go watch the movie..........bye
