IR + SPB combo (revised)

Hi guys

we can never forget such combo, late 70's till early 90's SPB +IR combo peaked. it will be impossible, but can we try at least list few of these combination.

i will start off with

1) Salanghai Oli
2) Kadhal Oviyam
3) Sirpikuzh muthu

  It was sivakumar and sumitra, produced by panchu arunachalam (I think). This movie also had song 'thendrale nee pesu' by P.B.Srinivas. That was the only song he sang for IR
  
  btw, mayile mayile was sung by SPB and Jency, not PS.

  oh right, all these time I was thinking it was PS not Jency, but there is a similarity in their voices right?

  I like Jency's voice. It's quite different with a bit of malayalam accent. 'Idhayam poguthey' from pudhiya varpugal is a good one. I think she sang about 25 to 30 songs for IR in tamil and malayalam but never sang for any other MDs in Tamil. Can someone confirm that?

  also Raghu, have you listened to 'thalayai kunium thamaraiye' from 'oru odam nathiyagirathu? That is another great song by SPB and vasantha or rajeswari or somebody. I don't remember the name of the female singer.

  'thalayai kunium thamaraiye' yes, very nice song, I sing the song all the time, hey, it was me Raguvaran, acting in that film, ha ha .
  
  the lady singing along with SPB was indeed vasantha. BTW I 4got which film that song is from, can u pls confirm it ?

  x, Jency sang for SG- 'Paniyum naane malarum neeye' from Panimalar and also for GA- 'Poochoodi pottum vachu-' from 'Ponni'. But yes, nearly all her songs were for IR.
  
  Raghu, 'Thalayai kuniyum thamaraye' is by SPB and S Rajeswari. Definitely not Vasantha.

  1) SPB vasantha is "Pottu vaiththa muhamo"
  
  2) "Thalayai Kuniyum thamaraiye" great song..
  
  3) The other good one is
  
  "Dhin dhiranana dirana dhin danana....then mazhayinil nanaindhidum malaro"....
  
  You can observe a nice 'punnagai' from SPB when he sings "Punnagaiyoo poo mazhaiyo" in the same song.
  
  4) Another nice one is Geedham sangeedham...

  I recently heard ARR's ashokan songs (malayalam dubbed). The 'omkari neeli' song by SPB is simply amazing. It's duet song (spb+spb). Such a fast paced song but still each and every word is so clear and that's the beauty of SPB!

  yes that's true , the song is quite old though, SPB sings one song in high pitched voice & one in low bassy voice, ARR knows the beauty of SPB, he has fully utilised him in this song!
