Songs and movies copied from Hindi?

  I genarally hear that tamil MDs used to copy
  hindi songs in 60s and 70's. Is it true? if so
  who did. I know only little about old hindi songs.
  please help.
  
  (non music q) 'padosan' looks like 'adtha vettu penn' and 'Bombay to goa' is 'Ms to pondycherry'. Who copied from whom?

  In the 60's Vedhaa used to borrow (but, quite
  nicely and effectively) a lot from Hindi tunes.
  He did his copying out in the open. Since he
  was working together with Kannadhaasan at Modern
  Theatres for these movies, all his "copy" songs
  became great hits. Ones that I can remember are:
  
  Naane Varuven (Yaar Nee)
  Naan malarodu thaniyaaga En ingu nindren and
  Un pazhakkaththin meethenna thudippu (both from
  Iru Vallavargal)
  Manam ennum medai (CID Shankar)
  Palinginaal oru maaligai (Vallavan Oruvan)
  
  By Others:
  Raadhaiyin Nenjame (Kanimuththu Paappaa)
  Sandhanaththil Nalla Vaasam Eduththu (Praaptham)
  (Is it really a copy?)
  
  Of course, you should remember that Hindi MDs
  have copied (are also copying) from Tamil songs;
  and there are those who make new Tamil songs from
  old Tamil song tunes.
  
  Can we make a list of these "copied" songs?
  
  When we are on this subject, I should mention that
  copying is quite fine as far as it is done nicely.
  I certainly would have missed hearing nice Hindi
  tunes such as 'sow saal pahale mujhe thum se pyaar
  thaa', unless they were beautifully copied into
  Tamil by Vedhaa as 'manam ennum medai mele silai
  ondru paaduthu'.

  I will not accept that 'sandhanathil nalla
  vaasam eduthu'is a copy.Both the versions
  had a lot of differences.
  
  Other songs of vedha that were lifted from hindi
  are:
  
  oraayiram paarvaiyile un paarvaiyai naan ariven
  Naanathaale kaalgal pinne pinne(??)
  
  Ilaiyaraja copied a popular hindi tune for the
  song 'kanavu kaanum vazhkkai yaavum kalaindhu
  pogum kolangal(neengal kettavai)
  
  But Sankar Ganesh duo outbeats everyone when it
  comes to lifting tunes. Some songs i can list here is:
  
  oru paadal naan ketten(osai)
  devi neeindri naan edhamma(niruparaadhi)
  megame megamae(paalaivana cholai)
  kovil deivam nee selvam nee(ninaivugal)
  vaanam arugil oru vaanam(nyaya tharasu)

  Btw 'adutha veettu penn'was release first.Padosan(to my opinion)was a very poor remake of the original

  Kanavu kanda kadhal (movie Akbar) sung by Suseela, ? MD - original is from Mughal-e-azam.
  Nerrukku Ner nindru paarthadhu podhum - ?
  (original is O mere soana re sona re - teezri manzil).
  En gadhal odangal (Anjadha Nenjangal) MD Sankar -Ganesh from Ek Dujhe ke liye - Tere mere beej mae. Interestingly this was flicked immediately after the release of Ek Dujhe ..

  Adutha Veetu penn was first made in Telegu.
  (Pakka Inti Ammmayi). Then remade in Tamil and remade in Hindi as Padosan.
  
  One of the best comedies ever (in any language).

  There are many songs which you cannot call them
  as exact (or even close) copies of other tunes,
  BUT, when you hear them you are very much
  REMINDED of tunes from other songs. Recently
  I was hearing on Malaysian Radio, the following
  song (by PS, MD: Vedhaa, Movie: ?):
  
  nenjukku nimmadhi aaNdavan sannidhi
  ninaiththaal ellaam unakkuLLE
  
  It immediately reminded me of the song (by PS,
  MD: Vedhaa, Movie: Vallavanukku Vallavan):
  
  pozhudhum vidiyum poovum malarum
  poRuththiruppaay kaNNaa
  
  Similarly, when I hear the song, "Thirumaalin
  thirumaarbil Sridevi mugame, dheepangaL
  aaraadhanai", I am reminded of "NinaivaalE
  silai seydhu unakkaaga vaiththEn" (both were
  tuned by MSV).
  
  Another recent example: "SollaamalE" from
  Poove Unakkaaga (MD: Rajkumar)
  reminds me of "KaNNaaLanE" of Bombay (MD: ARR).
  
  I would be interested in listing other such

  The music for the movie "Sigaram" was scored by SPB. But there is one song in the movie(I don't remember the song) which has the same tune of a very famous Mohd.Rafi number. When questioned about this SPB said he was inspired by the original. Now that's a preety flimsy excuse,coming from a person like SPB.

  You both are partially right. The song is a TMS/PS duet where the male line is "Naanathaalae kannam minna minna" and the female line is "Kaadhalaalae kaalgal pinna pinna"

  as "Miss Mary" in Hindi (again *ing Gemini) with
  the song "Vaarayo vennilavaey" remade as

  I saw your response rather late. You're right. The song I mentioned about was indeed Vannam Konda Vennilavae.

  the song originally is supposed to be a Punjabi song. It appeared in the Hindi movie Naagmani.
  It goes like "peeche peeche aaja mere..". I
  think Disco Shanthi danced for it.

  When i hear the song 'paartha gnabagam illayo' (ps, msv) from the film pudhiya paravai, the song 'haal kaisa hai janaab ka? kyA kayaal hai aapka' (kishore kumar) come to my mind. i think it atleast the the first line sound the same copy? lift? inspiration? respond.
  Another one for now, 'kAAdhodu than naan paduven'(gemini, jayanthi) a k. balachander movie,resembles very much 'jeena yahaan marna yahaan(raj kapoor, mera naam joker).

  i'm sure people would pounce on me if i say the hindi number is the original, but i can't believe raja could have copied this one...
