A Personal opinion about the writer i.e. IMHO:
----------------------------------------------
The article is written by 'Chrompet' Pa Raaghavan. A noted thamizh writer. He is a person who doesn't like much of "crime-investigation" kind of novels. But at the same time he is not the person who patronages "uncomprehensible" "self-proclaimed-genius" writtings also. He is somewhere-in-between writer. This I infer from this article series. I have not read his other works. I guess he writes comic short stories also. One such was published in Kumudam (or) Aanandha-Vikatan (both are leading thamizh weekly)
Intro about the article Therindhadhu Mattum ("(about) Known only"):
------------------------
This article is written in thursdays. Its a kind of just-like-that type of comments in each article, serious-cum-good comments but not in any particular order. The article might talk about his experience on a new book he read, a news item he read or watched in TV, about his experience in a field, about films also. Sometimes one episode(article) will talk about more than one incident.
About This episode:
-------------------
In this article the author describes about three incidences. One is the mega thamizh film stars festival held in malaysia recently, the third is about a thamizh translation of a book about se guvara (pardon me for the spelling), a latin american "revolutionists". The second piece is about the book "Hey! Ram". Im giving the translation of that below.
Translation:
------------
It is known to many that Kamalahaasan's Hey! Ram screenplay was released as a book. I had an oppurtunity to read it only recently.
It was easy to read as I had already seen the movie. Also, reading such screenplay books long after the movie gone out of theatres, gives ample neutrality to the mind to judge about the quality of it. Might be this is typical exhibition of my merit or demerit. But I want to say that I was able to identify the place that needed changes to make this film a hit.
I just want to remind that it was mocked at when it was released with a tag called "Multi-lingual movie". But now what comes to mind is that, for this film there was no need for language at all. It is even astonishing why kamal filled the gap with dialogues. That too after iLLayaraaja fitted dialogues in the name of BackGround Music(BGM). This is to be mentioned(specially). While flipping through the pages of the screenplay book I could hear the relevant scence's music from the film. I guess this is very rare. It means that for that story there is nothing called as alternate music. Especially during the scenes like sanyaasa deeksha; the scenes of seeing girl, vasundara, for marriage(a convention or ritual); the scene in which the uncle comes out of coma for a split of the moment and dies etc, the words from the book disappeared and raaja's notes appeared, which I could experience ecstatically.
I don't remember anybody saying that ILLayaraaja moved from the plane called TFM MD to a different plane, during the Hey! Ram release time. Even if, I wish to tell that now, here.
Having heard all sorts of predictions about the release of his symphony like its being released now etc etc, I lost the hope that it would ever get released.
Even if it would not get released, somebody can try to release the BGM of Hey! Ram like himalayan performances of ILLayaraaja (The list of such performance can grow to atleast half a dozen in numbers like in azhagi, devadhai etc). The trend of releasing the BGM as a seperate album is not here but I have heard that in west its a thriving business. Just rememeber that the titanic album was heard even in bus stand side fast food center in a deep village of thamizhnadu (like maamandur).
Lets see who will come to bell the cat (ie. who is going to start the BGM album releasing business in TFM).
-------------
I tried my level best to translate the article. Please bear with me any mistakes are found.
