Firstly, where the hell is he? I know he did some concerts or something but where are all his latest movies and hits? Parasuram should be opening soon but what happened to the rest?? I was looking fwd to Yelelo, Boys, New, E18U20(something like that!), etc. All these films supposed to have opened some time ago but they have vanished. Did he delay these films again or the producers withdrew the films?
What's more, nowadays his music has become so mundane that the feelings I use to have looking out for the release so eagerly have also vanished. Has the upsurge in quality by other newcomers made his music so mundane? Has he given up film music. His Bombay Dreams has been a total failure and a waste of time listening to it. Just where is he & what is he up to?

Is This The End Of Looking Forward To ARR Songs?
Let ARR give any albums like his past. HJ&YSR's album sounds better than recent ARR's albums.

"ARR ENTERS OSCARS FOR THE SECOND TIME(thru WARRIORS OF HEAVEN AND EARTH)........... lets pray that this genius from india wins home laurels....."
Don't know which media/website wrote that but please check the following before you pray:
1) Which country represents "WARRIORS OF HEAVEN AND EARTH"?
2) In the first place, is China(hint! hint!)going to sent this movie as its Oscar rep. in Jan'04?
3) All movies have to be submitted for Oscar consideration by Jan each year. The committee will review, nominate and release the info of the last 5 films in each category only somewhere in Feb.
As such, you have started praying now based on some info from somewhere. Regardless of the fact that whether this movie gets nominated or not in the first place or better still it wins the oscar for best score, you same ol' irritants have exhibited your ignorance again.
You don't know how to distinguish quality from fame. You don't know how to distinguish original from copy. And last but not least you don't know anything else outside of arr songs. It just goes on to make people wonder if your brain is placed in some other part of your body instead of your head?

After Lagaan, A R Rahman's music is again set to make waves at the Oscars, this time with a Chinese film.
His first-ever Chinese film, Warriors of Heaven and Earth, will be the 2004 official entry to the Oscars. A period saga directed by Hei Peng with the maestro's music, Warriors of Heaven and Earth is China's second film after Crouching Tiger Hidden Dragon.
Rahman is the first Indian to work behind the Great Wall with the ace director who had earlier directed Red Firecracker Green Firecracker and wrote the screenplay for Swordsman in Double Flag.
"The experience was liberating. There were many raised brows. It was left to me in blind faith. That's why I prayed that everything should work out well, or else, this could have been my biggest humiliation ever," he says.
The remuneration too turned into a great deal, says Rahman, who was briefly in town. "Money any way doesn't count in certain phases in life," the maestro says. This, says Rahman, is one of the many international offers that he's chosen. "I am considering a couple of Hollywood offers. I refused one of Miramax's film as I found the theme very dark," says the composer, who made his presence felt on the global scene with Bombay Dreams.
He says he has been an avid fan of Chinese films ?the award-circuit types. It was one of the meetings with Sony Classical head that resulted in this crossover offer. "My head was blank when he asked me to meet Hei Peng as I didn't understand the language. But when I saw the film, I found it had immense scope for my kind of music. Moreover, Hei -Ping heard Lagaan and Vandhe Mataram albums and liked them so much that he made a 'temp-track' and used it in his film. I committed then and there."
The film is about the silk route from China to Turkey and to India. Music has Indian, Turkish and Chinese mix.
"The film has a Japanese actor, an American producer and an Indian composer."
The music ?mostly background score ?heightens the emotional impact of the film. "There is just one song in the Mandarin language sung by the famous Taiwanese singer Jolin," he says.

Hi
I don't c any valid arguements here other than bashing each others.Try to listen. Once I read an article in vikatan (Madan's Q & A). Someone have asked Madan to compare ARR & IR. Madan statement was this " IR music is like natural rainfall, whereas ARR music is like a fountain WATER FALL )
Hope u'll agree with Madan's statement.Though he is not a promenent musician.. some how we can accomodate his statement.....
cheers guys

I think Madan was not being sarcastic but quite accurate in his comments. Maybe because of IRs repeated persistence of acoustic music and classical scales and also because of ARRs passion with new age and world rythms and electronic sounds.

Just to satisfy everyone's curiousity(including our dear paran's who is going at great length into agreeing/disagreeing into anything w/o doin any research...leave alone whether having any knowledge), ... any movie whether in the best foreign film category or best film category is eligible for BEST MUSIC SOCRE.
Hope that puts to rest.
