Dear Friends,
I am always wondering about this. Eventhough, MSV, gave the hit songs to P. Suseela, he did not fail to give one or more songs to LR Eswari in each film.
Of course, the comedy heroines as well as Glamour Actresses were there in most of the films and LRE was given opportunities by MSV to sing songs for these characters.
Also, MSV in his interviews, speaks high of LRE.
The song, which he often quotes, is the "Pattathu Raani Paarkum Paarvai Vetrikku Thaan Ena Enna Vendum" in "Sivandha Mann".
He says that the expressions, she gives in her voice in that song, particularly when Sivaji slaps the dancer with a whip, is something extra-ordinary and has not come out the same way and effectively, in its hindi-version, sung by a different singer.
Before, opening this topic, I visited "Dhool.com", wherein there is one news item, which features an interview with MSV.
I read that article and there too he comes up with words like
"athu thAn Balu, athu thAn LR Easwari"
In fact, this is what has prompted me to open-up this topic.
What is it that made MSV turn to LRE and to give more opportunities to her to sing in his music ?
What is special about the relationship the association between MSV and LRE ?
There should be some, I guess. Are they "Paalya Snehidhargal" ?
Also, when he was with T.K. Ramamurthy, he rotated singers and opportunities were given to all singers like AM Raja,Jikki, Sirkazhi,Janaki,Suseela,TMS,PBS,Rajeswari,Jamuna Rani and the likes.
But after, the breaking of his association with Ramamurthy, he carried on the work mostly with
TMS,PBS,AL Raghavan, PS and LRE
Janaki was ignored. Janaki was considered for singing atleast a song when the duo were together.
But after they broke their relationships, Janaki was given very less opportunities.
But, I should also tell that, MSV has given SJ, an opportunity to sing a duet with him.
And that is the wonderful song
"Sollathaan Ninaikkiraen; Ullathaal Thudikkiraen
Vaayirundhum Solvadharkku Vaarthayindri Thavaikkiraen"
Anyway,LRE was given the position next to PS.
Guys, what do you think about the association of MSV with LRE ?

In a typical middle class (rather lower-middle-class) TN home, you can usually spot a black & white photo, reasonably enlarged, framed and hung on the wall - yes that of the husband & wife of that home...either taken during wedding or shortly there after...
I happened to see a similar B&W hubby-wife photo in a studio (with all those romantic, blush-blush faces) in Dindigul, long back -when I was at school...of a middle aged MSV & young LRE...
Need I say more about the special `pAlyA snEhidham'?

kumarr, if you have not heard LRE, let me tell u, she was one of the most versatile singers, unfortunately much ahead of her times. The unabated energy and gusto with which she sang was remarkable and that is the reason why MDs like MSV, VKumar etc gave her many songs. If you are scouting for some aval, pori, other non musical reasons , TFMDF is definitely not the place.

thumburu,
Most of the time personalities like IR are bashed for strictly non-musical reasons only, in the DF (thimir, nepotism etc.)...
Things like plagiarism also fall in this category...
Vimarsanam on personalities in public life/ entertainment biz are unavoidable...
It's up to you to take part or stay away from such discussions. aval, pori illAmal enna discussion?

I don't think anybody is bashed more than Bhavadharini in this forum...simply for being the daughter of IR. While it's true that her average talents find opportunities in the business because of being IR's daughter, for the same reason she's also bashed...despite the songs becoming popular and even winning a NA...
Once you're in show business, these are unavoidable...and we all know there are two sides to MOST film personalities...that MSV spent off a lot of earnings due to his habits as well as rebellious children is a known fact...

Annoyed Thumburu Sir,
Just I was curious to know the importance MSV gave to LRE.
Nothing offence was meant.
Now, just I am wondering, how can you interpret that way ?
You are thinking that I have not heard LRE. That is an assumption of you.
I still cherish her some good songs like
"Ammammaa Keladi Thozhi..." from "Karuppu Panam"
"Vaarayan Thozhi Vaarayo..."
"Malarukku Thendral Pagayaanal Adhu Malarnthida Kathiravan Thunai Undu"
"Naan Maandhoppil Nindrundhaen...Avan Maambazham Vendum Endraan"
"Kaathodu Dhaan Naan Pesuvaen..."
Her humming in "Kallellaam Maanikka Kallaaguma"
So do not jump into hasty conclusions.
There is no harm in putting forth and discussing things.
That is what this forum is for .

I am surprised why a discussion in TFM DF should get into the subject of personal life of any artiste. The purpose of this forum is to discuss quality of music/lyric or talents and /or credentials of music associated personnel like singer, MD, or lyricist.I think it is more appropriate if the discussions are confined to the above points without entering into personal life of such people. Let us appreciate their music and talents, why worry about other things?

Kutty, at least it will help kill the blind fanatism / devotion (which is so much there in TN)...some people could stop looking at movie stars / technicians as gods...

I did watch LR Eswari's concert and she doesn't have any respect for her fans. She comes to concerts drunk. She sang "Balinginaal Oru Maaligai" song with gestures made New(BF)and Boys to shame.

The point what I saw in Vambu's statement is the fact that tamil film fans shoud stay away from blindly adoring an artiste as god or goddess. This has no relevance to LRE or MSV.I still believe, as I stated earlier in the previous posting that this forum should discuss music, credentials or musical capabilities of artistes and not rumours about them.
Incidentally, I happened to read an article in the famous malayalam weekly about LRE.It projects well the excellent talents of this great artist. It also has given an insight as to how much she has struggled in the earlier years to look after her family including her mother, sister and brother, forgetting to live by herself.A very touching story! She contributed quite a lot to south indian film music. May god bless her.
