Salutes to Shanmukhapriya (Raaga)!!

Shanmughapriya is a versatile raga practiced for all emotions. We can go for a mindblowing melody or block bustering Rap sort. everything fits finely in this raaga.

Sollayo Vaithirandhu - Moghamul is a good number in melody.

Kannukkul nooru nilava - vedham pudhidhu is a westernized stuff.

Kadhal Kasakkudhaiyya - ?? is a country music oriented piece.

Ooru Vittu ooru vandhu - from Karagattakkaran is also a pakka "Dadppanguthu" where you can feel teh flavour in charanam easily.

Please add more songs in raagam shanmughapriya.

  Ram,
  You have forgotten "Thamthana namthana thaalam varum" - which was Illaiyaraja's yesteryear hit in Shanmughapriya.
  The initial akaaram humming part , the flute bits in the first interlude(Just observe the 2 small twirls the flute creates just before the bell sound),the female chorus that runs in the background thruout the charanam, the western flavour in the 2nd interlude with veena - all of these make this song truly a marvel!!!
  BTW, Shanmughapriya closely resembles Simhendramadhyamam . IR also has numerous credits to Simhendramadhyamam, the most notable song being "Thaalaatum poongatru naan allavaa" from Gopurangal Saivathillai.

  "Nenjil kudiyirukkum anbarasar" is my fav too.
  P.Leela's voice is honey sweet in that song.

  How to name it - How to name it. The song changes from Simhendra Madhyamam to Shanmugapriya in a startling manner and then goes over some lovely phrases (Ni ri ga ri, Ni ri ga ri, Ni ri ga ri, Niiiiii)

  The first tune is from SP.

  "Thagita Thathemee" is a great situational Shanmuga Priya with beatiful lyrics by Vairamuthu.
  
  "O O Pavurama! Mera Premi, Pavurama..." is an interesting, and old, Tamil Shanmuga Priya that I heard in GS Mani's cassette. GS Mani, at the end, weaves it beatifully with a rendition of "Maruvellarikku evarayya Rama..." (I think by Patnam Subramanya Iyer).
  "Ninaidhu Ninaidhu nenjam..." is a beautiful Shanmuga Priya.

  Ninaindhu Ninaindhu nenjam - indeed a soul stirring Shanmughapriya, which moves me.I have forgotten who has sung this song.
  Iam reminded of another super speed song from vintage IR in Shanmughapriya "Mazhai varuvadhu mayilukku theriyum
  Magan thirumugam manadhukku theriyum".
  Gosh!!! This song has excellent mridhangam , veena bits , flute, and WCM laced interludes and just whizzes past you , leaving u dazed and craving for more.
  PS : The violin strokes that come after the charanam lines
