Rare Singers of Tamil Films

Hi all;

Remember, A.L.Raghavan, .T.R.Mahalingam, Ghantasala, Dr.S.S.Govinderajan, Dr.BMK, these guys have only sung few Tamil Cinema songs as far as I know, please correct me , if I am wrong, can we please try to list such songs?

  Can anyone give me a list of Tamil film songs sung by M S Subbalaxmi? I have heard lots of her classical and devotional concerts, but no film songs as yet. Anyone? I think she is a rare singer too.

  as far as I know, I never heard MSB singing any film songs, apart from "Thiruvizhaiyaadhal", I guess that is Devotional :-)

  Yes, Sirgazhi sang quite a few tamil songs, but it is not a lot compared to TMS PBS, who were dominating at that time.

  ALR, sang a song for Nagesh, where nagesh & manorama are dobhi's and they are singing along a river bank, it goes some thing like "Vellai appa", any ideas?

  Amma, naan Englishman illai, naan thamizhan, and I am damn proud of it! it is because of ppl like you (who worship the Englishmen), most of the Tamil ppl have such a low self esteem, thinking that, if they speak a word or two of English, that they are intelligent, don't worry as long we praise the English, we(not me) shall remain their slave :(
  
  Any way sorry for the digression, you have listed 30 songs, well thanks for that, cos, you have done my job a bit easier, could you please add the rest of 70 songs, :)))

  Just because I said Dr.SSG sang a lot less compared to TMS/PBS, I am not under estimating this great genius in any way :)

  I remember one song from 'thiruvarutchelvar' where Sivaji, as a dhobhi, sings ' uyirE azhukkuth thuNi uvar maNNE nam piRappu veLLaiyappa'. (In this song, clothes resembling Congress and DMK flags are shown to be drying on the river bank!!)
  But I think the singer was TMS!

  Yes, the song u were refering to was indeed from Thiruvarutchelvar, but the one I mentioned is not that one, it goes something like this "AAtru vellam .........vellaiyappa", it had Nagesh/ Manorama, do you remember what film it was from ???

  Both of you are talking about the same song. The song starts with Nagesh, Manorama and then to Sivaji. In fact, very soon after this long song comes SG's song (Gemini Ganesan as Lord Shiva), 'irukkum idaththaivittu illaadha idam thEdi'. If you need these songs send me an email.
