Dear IR Fans,
This thread is for you. Let us list out and discuss the movies which were turning point / milestones
in Raja's career or IFM. We can also exchange information which was not known hitherto.

Punnagai Mannan (1986) - first Indian movie, with computerised music
???
Hindi dhuniya was already into computer music. Papy Lahari & Runa Laila had their albums out by 1984 itself I belive..

36) Guru - Malayalam (1997) - his first association with Hungarian musicians, the outcome was just great
A hungary artist has worked with IR in "aasaya kaathtula thoodu vittaa" itself?

27) Geethanjali (1989) - So many hit movies in this year, I shall pick up Geethanjali as a representative of his range
Its neither a turning point nor a milestones
in Raja's career or IFM, imo.
Raja was popular then & not having this movie wouldnt have change anything in his carreer & also in TFM. (again imo)
chummaa list perusaa varaNum'grathukkaaga, hit- aana padam, hit-akkaa patta padam, pudichcha padam, pakkaththu veettu figure'kku pudichcha pdam'nu sEththukittE pOnaa, at the end of thread, we will have the near-complete list of all IR-movies (ada aammaayya.. ithuvum imo thaan!) :p

Hey Venkatesh, who stars in the movie "Thai Mookambikai"? Was the movie itself any good?

Pudhiya Vaarpugal, Anjali, My Dear Kuttichathaan, NadOdi Thendral, Kizhakku Vaasal, Amman Kovil KizhakkaalE
-- Sorry these don't belong here, Venkatesh, IMO. And every 50th or 100th movie doesn't count either! Otherwise, your list is impressive.

Udhaya,
Kaveri (Malayalam) samples are available in raajangahm.com - rare song samples.
mmc,
27) Geethanjali - sorry, I meant Geethanjali of Telugu (Idhayathai thirudathe in Tamil), the songs and BGM both were excellent.
Reg. Hungary musicians, I read that there were few foreign instrumentalists who were playing for IR from the earlier days itself. However, Guru had 5 musicians from Hungary, who played extensively for Guru's score.
Punnagai Mannan was widely advertised as the first computerised/programmed score in the IFM. Somebody please clarify.
Guru, Peter Pan
All the movies you listed are super hits, however we cannot include everything in the list, as mmc says in his post. We can have max 2 films in a year only.
Raju
Thai Mookambikai has KR Vijaya as the Goddess. I think Sivakumar was the hero. In the audio cassettte intro, IR speaks briefly, abt the songs of the movie, how he consulted various vidwans for the songs. He says 'intha padathin isayai naan oru thavamaagave seithirukkiren'.

Peter Pan, Venkatesh,
Thanks for the news on Kaveri. I can't wait to hear that soundtrack.

Azhage Unnai Aaradhikiraen - the songs from this film were a class apart. Ditto for Vaidhegi Kaathirundhaal

Vaidehi Kathirunthal came up on Oct 23 1984, just a few days before Mrs.Gandhi's assassination. A few weeks later, almost every school/college function had someone dancing to "azhagu Malaraada" on its list of programs.
Still, IMHO, 79-82 brought out the best of IR(Not that he has past his best after that!!)

Just wondering when was Tambikku Entha Ooru released? Should be around the early eighties, '81 or so..

a very reliable list, puts it at 1984. Is that true?

Udhayageetham was IR's 250th Movie, I remember seeing it in the cassette cover itself !

Prabhu, most of my favourite songs of IR are in that timeframe (79-82) too.

NagaS:
In most of the Annual Day/Literary Assocn Day functions in schools/colleges or on festival days at the local colony/temple, you will notice a dance item. "Azhagu Malaraada" used to be the preferred song during that period.(Wonder what song kids dance to these days, since most song sequences in the 90s and 2Ks have 30-40 people unleashed on paddy fields!)
If UG was IR's 250th, then what was 300th??
I read that
100 - Moodupani
200 - Aayiram Nilave Vaa
300 - UdayaGeetham(before NagaS' correction)
400 - Nayagan
500 - Anjali
600 - ?
700 - ?
