Very unfortunate that IR's BGM talents will go unnoticed yet again. The movie has been banned in India.

I watched lajja last night.I can only say this-mind blowing background score by ilayaraja. I wonder how many Northindians will appreciate the bGM? Yeah. I will second siva's opinion-Lajja without the bgm would have been a total insipid film. The bgm does elevate the film to dizzy heights. There were so many scenes-especially the initial ones with manisha and jackie wherein bgm was brilliant. I wish I had seen this movie in big screen.
By the way I have noticed when people talk about ilayaraja's bgm scores no one seem to remember his one of the masterpieces-Nenjathai killathey-manhendran's film -suhasini's debut.
I had seen this movie in my high school days but still remember some of teh scenes with brilliant bgm. This movie had some amazing bgm.
I haven't found the songs anywhere in the net.

Ya IR is beyond compare as far as BGM is concerned. The flute piece in Mudal Mariyathai comes readily to my mind.
An all time favourite for me is his song in Nizhalgal, Madai Thiranthu, which soulfully expresses the feelings of a musician getting his first chance. No body else could have composed a song like that.

dammit...why does raaja accept such offers? a musician of his calibre should not demean himself by wasting his talents in the hindi field, especially with anu malik being mentioned on par with him...
i too had my doubts about the capacity of the hindi guys to appreciate raaja's finesse, and a review in the hindustan times bears it out fully. the guy has given a frame-by-frame account of the movies, liberally commenting all through the review, but not one word has he mentioned about the music. it is as though music has nothing to do with the story.
here's to the return of another glorious raaja era....

Anand:
Ilayaraaja's greatness and genius does not depend on review by Hindustan Times or the appreciation of north indian viewers or anyone else. Just imagine a newspaper reporter/reviewer and their levels of knowledge --- it is too much to expect such sophistication from them.
To me, it just shows their lack of knowledge.
