  I wrote to Kamal in Dec 1997 and got a reply from him that it hasn't been decided until that point.I don't know when he will decide.

  Guys,
  Kamal told me this morning. It is somebody from raja family to score music for Marudanayagam.
  ARR is going to program that. And rhythm is by Zakir hussian accompanied on santur by sivkumar and sitar by whoelse ravishankar.

  Music director for this movie is definetly our IR.Kamal always go to london only for two reason.First,he want to select acter for Marudhanayagam.The second one is search for another music director who will work together with our IR.So we can hear a great music which one more standart than a world class music....!

  Original score for this movie is by ARR. And bgm is by IR. Kamal went to london to search for recording equipments.

  No doubt IR is a genious, but what about ARR? Why
  he should be put aside? Let Marudhanayagam be his first historical project, whilst IR had his enough. But, of course, KH would include IR as his consultant.   I am a new entrant for this site and an avid fan IR. It is heartening to know that our IR is the music director for KH film. This letter is not for offending the ARR fans, but for just a clarification. It is known to everybody, I suppose, that ARR had been under IR for many years together. He was a keyboardist in this troupe - as I was told by Kadri himself when I had an oppurtunity to talk with him for fixing a concert for my college. This probably means that IR has already ARR in him. Hence, I feel, whether or not ARR is there in the music team, it must not matter. I accept the fact he is a wonderful programmer and a Keyboard player of the highest order,( recall "Punnagai Mannan" theme and the swaras he had played at the end in the song "Thangamay Tamizhukkilai" ), but when it comes to creativity I fear he is not as successful as IR. This I feel can be substantiated by the work of IR in "GURU" (Malayalam). Hence it does not really matter ,may I presume,if ARR is going to collaborate or not with IR for KH film.
  
  But, rorm the experience I have had with "Nothing but wind", I feel that it may matter in case of Maestro "Zakir Hussain" . In NHB we had Chourasia playing the compositions of IR in his own soothing way. It is because of his personal touch IR could fill life in it. You don't get to hear the same in other compositions of IR,I mean for the films.

  Gopal is magnanimous to Deva who even in his wildest dream will not think of doing a project like that. He is like Ramanarayanan who directs 10 films at a time like a Masthiri building houses.(Ofcourse with success). He cannot dream to be an architect. Considering the Budget, Expectation and seriousness of the film, obviously IR has to do the work.

  I am getting pained by all these speculations. I have already written this is the thread "Flash news...." and am repeating it here - IR is the MD for the movie. My source is this: I attended a recording of IR's (for another film) and listened to a song of Marudanayakam. It was the title song of the film and was sung by IR himself. My neighbour who plays guitar for IR sang in the chorus for this song and he too confirmed it.
