All times in EST +10:30 for IST.
I have listened to both these albums for atleast 30 to 40 times and find them to be pretty good. But I think that NBW though has only 5 tracks is more meaningful and organised. On the other hand HTNI has some small but brilliant pieces like the first, last and the other violin rendition, but seems to be made in an haphazard manner. I think that instead of composing music for crappy films for which he had to compose crappy tunes he should have proceeded with his efforts in refining his approach towards classical music. Who knows? he could have composed his symphony much earlier!!

I have heard HTNI few times. Have anybody noticed
that there is a long violin piece which is the exact ditto of Title music of NIZAZGAL.

I think it is veedu and not nizhalgal. Correct me if I'm mistaken. Also the last piece was used in a telugu movie. I think it was made in tamil with karthik and bhanupriya

Balu Mahendra used HTNI for background score in Veedu. Infact the title would say " Music based on HTNI". Reportedly IR was irritated since Balu Mahendra used HTNI without letting him know. But they settled those differences.

Hi guys,
I know a friend of mine by the name Sriram who cant go to bed without listening to HTNI!!!!!!!! :-)
Many of my north Indian friends know NBW as some 'so -so' MD from south who has worked with Hariprasad chaurasia to produce this album.
Apparently IR has composed these stuff to show to the western light MDs like Paul Mariot while he was planning for his first ever foreign trip.
HTNI is much better recorded than NBW but is indeed very poor when compared with the present day recordings...

Pal :
That is not true. HTNI and NBW are very well recorded - better than today's recordings. True, both the albums were alalog recordings and what you hear on CD's is just a digital transfer - AAD recording. Both the albums have their share of noise typical of an analog recording.
But the tone & clarity of the acoustic instruments in both the albums is just excellent. All it needs is remastering of the recording and the recordings will be better than today's recordings.

NBW is like a light symphony with 5 movements.
I did not know Raja had produced something totally different from How To Name It.
I am hearing it for the first time and very impressed.
