The audio release for jeans is slated to be in this month and the movie is releasing in the first week of april . the expectations are high since the movie is the most expensive tamil film to date.
for just one song, the SEVEN wonders of the world have been filmed. of course the film also stars the beautiful Ash. Rai. (who is yet to give a hit)
well friends , add your opinion on the songs when the audio releases.

Today I saw the half page ad. in DinaThanthi
about next weeks "Audio Release" of Jeans.
Also noticed the ads coming in SUN TV.

Last week Kumudam had an interview with
Producer Vijay Amirtraj. He has mentioned that
Holywood will look upto this film.

Jeans Ad. says:

zero% Cotton - 100% Love

Last month's Tamil Audio World magazine said,
the release of Jeans is the much expected Audio event.

No, the Tamil Audio World is NOT in the net.
It is a monthly magazine from Madras (with afree cassatte).
I got the December issue from a magazine shop in
Bangalore - after that I keep inquiring
the guy for Jan/Feb issues - he said VARALAI SAAR!

I don't think ARR would disappoint this nice
oppurtunity with Shankar & Amritraj.

I guess it will be released this week.

Jeans !!@@@#@# Shanker's next movie will be shot on the planet "mars' with some scenes shot on the 'moon'. Music will ofcourse be by ARR and the title will be "Underwear - Made in Chennai". Tamil Films !!! Paavam... Maakal... Engeyo Porangapa !!!! More hype about the Cd/Cassette before anybody listens to it... Wish this kind of publicity was given to "raaja paravai" movie bakc in the 80's !!!!

Angry with the success of Shankar-ARR Combo?
Actually if you think about it, the hype behind
Jeans is not really due to ads and publicity.
It's a simple case of statistical prediction
unconsciously operating in everybody's mind.
Even if you go and look at TFM from the 60's
people used to wait eagerly for the songs from
any upcoming movies of BheemSingh, Sridhar (jointly MDd by MSV/TKR) simply
bcos they knew 100% surely that the songs will
be fantastic. The same applied to KB-MSV, Sridar-MSV
combos in the 70's, Bharathiraja-IR, KB-IR, Sridhar-IR
combos in the 80's, RVU-IR combo etc in the 90's
etc. The recent combos are MR-ARR and Shankar-ARR.
All the movies by Shankar had superhit songs --
not just one or two, but all the songs. So the
hype of the rasigar koottam for Jeans is
very natural. Ratchagan (or Raatchasan?)

For the next ARR movie "Engineer" - the pada
pujai andru - first day - with no music done -
the Audio rights has been sold for 5.5 Crores
(I don't even know how many zeros are there in a crore!!)
-the highest paid for any Tamil movie.

Did anyone know that Vijay Amritraj is the producer of Jeans? First Tamil movie for him. Not to mention the most expensive ever made. During the shooting, apparently the couldn't-care-less Beverly Hills crowd got captivated by Aiswariya Rai. :-))

I am really looking forward to the release of both the movie and the album!!

Not Vijay but Anand Amritraj. Anand Amritraj is a low-budget Hollywood producer. He started off by making soft-porn movies for the video circuit; later started making action movies with Jean Claude Van Damme (I forget the name, the story : MGR formula - double role, one good guy, one bad guy but they bash up the REAL bad guy who killed their father (20 years ago) in the climax). Has also produced some decent movies.

I agree with you whatever you said about the combos. But do you know the first week sales of Indian bombed and picked up well later on due to sat tvs?

And one more thing, for ratchagan too, there was big hype. the man behind the scene is producer KTK (who can make worst movies to best movies by spending much money for publicity, without him how can a movie like kAdhal dEsam run for 100 days). i don't think i have to write about the success of ratchagan audio cassette.

To Arun :

Bloodstone was produced by somebody else. This was also a low-budget Hollywood movie. I saw the movie for about 30 minutes (for Raja !).
There are quite a few Indians in Hollywood producing low-budget flicks. There is a guy called Jagmohan Mundhra - a IIT-Kharagpur graduate who is a 'reputed' soft-porn director. He also worked with Anand Amritraj. There are a few 'Shah' who also produce low-budget movies. Low-budget in HW I think is about $1-2 M - BIG budget by Indian standards.

TO MPR :
kAdhal dhEsam is a dubious 'hit' as was minsAra kanavu. ratchagan was a mega flop in Tamil & Telugu. I saw ratchagan in Devi Paradise - on around 25th day - it was about 40% full. Having missed Devadhai (DTS) I wanted to see ratchagan (another DTS movie) in a DTS theatre - it was pathetic ! The home theater setup I have sounds better. I don't know what the problem was - the mixing or the setup at Devi Paradise. Only in the climax - the helicopter chase - were there some surround sound effects.

Jeans I am sure will be a DTS movie.

Definitely Ashok Amritraj is not the tennis player. Anand-Vijay were the Indian davis Cup double pair when Vijay,ramesh used to rep. in singles events. It was a great combo and they made a record of the longest doubles match plyed anytime in India/Daviscup. Regarding Bloodstone I think Paramount Pictures was also a co-producer. A film difficult to digest...

I too agree. ARR surprises everyone by even getting the same type of tunes to be hits again and again.

No offense meant to ARR fans. The first songs I liked are from Minsara Kanavugal and Iruvar. Wow, that guy did have to work so many years to produce some tunes to please a guy like me.
