rakshakan is to be released sometime in Sep/Oct. SunTV showed a small clipping from a song. Nagarjuna & Sushmitha were dancing amidst 200 sundries for a 'damaal dumeel' song characteristic of ARR.

Aravind:
Antha RATCHASHAN paatu on SUN TV - have you
heard the lyrics - DIAMANDU pinitAR:
Kathalil irandu vagai
saivam asaivam - ithil
nee enna vagai ??
nee illAti nAn saivam - nee
irunthAl nAn Asaivam..
pAttu kEttu - pullarichupOitEn. The music was
as you said - very typical of ARR.
Also ARR is going to make the score for Maniratnam's next venture in which he is
introducing BharathiRaaja's son.
Jeans is to be released for Deepavali - OCT end -
so sometime before that songs would be out.

there are trailers of this movie at kunjumon's
web site. they have some song sequences too.
but it looks like another masala movie and the songs sound very average.

This seems to be an appropriate thread to discuss ARR's new releases. We can periodically revive it from the archive, whenever he scores for a new movie. :-).

Do you guys know when is the release of other ARR albums -- En Swaasa Kaatrey and Pukaar (Hindi)?
Am curious as to how good those songs will be!! Will he experiment in them as he did it in Uyire...It's good that he is coming up with atleast one classical number like kannodu (jeans), Nenjinile (Uyire) in each album. But I want to see an complete classical album from ARR -- I don't think today's producers will venture in those kind of movies....

Sam - I will take any news from this source, with a pinch of salt. They are the ones who said that Jeans was a miserable flop and that Kamal was disappointed with the audince reception for KaKa, that he smashed the car windscreen. :-)))

I had heard that En swaasa kaatre would be relasing this month. Although, I do not know when:) As far as Pukar is concerned, we will have to wait till August end or early September. The movie is going through final finishing and editing touches.

Shankar's next movie is his own production, Mudalvan.
The movie stars Arjun and Manisha Koirala and the MD is ARR.

I watched Uyirey last weekend. Maniratnam does not disappoint.
ARR's BGM has improved. I especially liked the way he had the background sound incorporated into each scene, by capitalising on the DTS facility. Look out for the rain scene - it felt like it was actually raining in the theatre!
Santhosh Sivan's photography for the song Thaiyya thaiyya is mesmerising and captivating. Evvalavu paaraattinaalum thagum.
I didn't like the choreography and now, even the song, Ennuyirey, ennuyirey.
Poongkaatriley is played by Shahrukh Khan over the radio air-waves (he is a dee jay) and comes on to torment Manisha. :-)) Good song.
Nenjiniley is also choreographed beautifully in Kerala, complete with scantily clothed dancers. I thought it was an opportunity to show off the hero's body. :-))
Overall IMO ARR did justice to Maniratnam's venture, who proves again that he is one of the best directors India currently has.

Junior - Maniratnam is one of the best directors India currently has.
ARR - the best MD India has ever produced???
Surely you got to be joking.

let us make this clear: mani is good not best: for info dil se album was having excellent sales and it was a chart buster and after the film release the song is no longer no.1, hmm why?
now are you trying to stuff(not put) any words in my mouth?

Sorry Mr.NOV,
I was terribly dis-appinted with the BGM as well as the movie. The BGM was nothing but a bunch of people shouting. I don't know why Manirathnam has to venture into a project which is nothing but an amalgamation of Roja and Bombay. He made an abrupt end and it was not at all justifiable. Mani is too good in romance, I mean pure romance stories. Let him take such kind of movies (my personal opinion). The dance sequences were as if it were done by a stunt master. Waste of $7 for me personally.

The Indian Express review of the movie is the only positive review of the movie I've read so far.Has this anything to do with the fact that the reviewer is a woman,I wonder?
Sreeni.
PS-While I've no doubts that I'll like the movie myself(since I never see a movie for "story" anyway, when I want a story,i read a book) it remains to be seen what the public will decree, now that practically everyone's panned it.
