what an interview man ! She says, " I have stopped giving advices" - Good spirit. As given in the interview she is the only singer to have worked right from GR to KR. Great !
40,000 songs ? a sure contender for LM,KJY,SPB.

In PS's words
"The track system may have its advantages. Each singer need not wait for the other singers and also the orchestration can be done with each musician separately. But I still prefer the old system of all the instrumentalists and singers working for the song in unision. There is a rhythm and order. In the track system, even if there is an iota of lag, then the song loses balance. Just switch off the background music and listen to the voice alone; you find ups and downs. Loud music camouflages this. That is the reason today’s music is like fast food."
These are exactly my opinions on today's music

It's my long time doubt as to how authentic the numbers are as quoted by singers when they say "I have sung 10,000 songs or 20,000 songs" etc.
I just did a simple hypothetical calculation assuming a singer is at his/her peak for 3 decades in 3 languages singing about 300 solos, 300 duets (hero-heroine), 300 duets (heroine-heroine or hero-hero)and 100 non-film devotional songs, on an average every year:
(300 + 300 + 300 + 100) * 30 = 30,000 songs
The figures I have considered are near too ideal considering the no. of films released each year! You can juggle the numbers as the number of songs sung by the singer in a particular year may not be always approximately 1000, it could double up or dwindle into half depending on the rising or falling curve of the singer's popularity in each language he/she sings.
The only singer I can think of who could come close to being popular in 3 languages all the same for about 20-25 years, is SPB, followed by P Susheela, who was popular for about 25 years in 2 languages and then we have Lata, I have no idea how many languages she sang in, but for sure, the no. of songs she sang in Hindi alone would easily outnumber those sung by the others in any of their languages but still I don't think she has sung that many songs in other languages except Hindi!
While I can't believe for sure SPB himself singing 30,000 songs, leave alone Lata who sang majorly in 1 language, I sure can't believe PS having sung 40,000 songs! Just not possible! She may have sung more songs than the others, but definitely 40,000 is a wrong figure!
When singer Jikki said in a TV interview a few years ago that she has sung about 10,000 songs, I was wondering if she counted even those that she sung in music concerts at home and abroad!

karthi: idhu frequent flyer miles maadhiri. Your first song counts for 5000. Certain special songs account for extra miles. This is good time to learn about "fuzzy math" - watch Gore vs. Bush debates:-)

The intenion of the thread is being lost. The focal point is that such a great artist who is god's gift to TFM is entering a new area, which is being made known to all her innumerable fans.If one could hear the same and share their experiences...

Dear friends,
Please understand that the NUMBER of songs is very unimportant. Had PS or Lata sung say only their 400-500 best songs, they still would have remained the legendary singers that they are.
Shakespeare didnt write thousands of plays, nor did Kalidas. Quality scores much above quantity.
Today Annu Mallick has done more films than ARR.
But can even the slightest comparison between them be dreamt of ?
