  I thought MPR had some mallu songs in his site.. not sure whether he had Kaliyoonjal though.. but there are 2 great songs in Kaliyoonjal.. ( Vanna vrinthaavanam has great orchestration )

  I gave the kaliyoonjal CD to a mallu friend who had no idea abt IR etc.. but she loved the songs.

  sounds similar to oru guNdumaNi kulungudhadi

  I saw Desiya Geetham, 2 weeks back, and the Re-recording is amazing. Even as I was jumping over one piece, the others kept coming. Especially during the sequence when the CM gets kidnapped...
  There is a piece that keeps going for almost 10 minutes !, showing the plans for kidnap, the actual kidnap and the search party by the police. The police search the lake in the morning, evening, night and dawn... and needless to say the music was doing EVERYTHING !!!
  I liked the film.. but its the music thats gonna make me see it again . IR Vazgha !

  Some news for IR fans...
  
  1. IR has composed a song and has sung himself for the film Marudanaygam of Kamal Hassan. The MD of the movie is Zakhir Hussain.

  2. It seems IR has given 30 tunes to the director Geetha Krishna for his new movie, Time. Remember that IR went to Maldives to get inspiration. According to GK, all the tunes were superlative and he is in the enviable position of selecting 6 from the 30 tunes.

  I think lankathas was referring to the news abt IR

  Creativity comes with its share of headaches -- if not for the creator, then for those working with him. Ask director Geethakrishna, now working on a film named Time. He roped in Ilayaraja to score the music and, to inspire the ace composer, even took him down to the Maldives, where the story is set, and flew him over the locales for a bird's eye view of the backdrop of the film. Trouble being, Ilayaraja's muse kicked into overdrive and, lo, out came 30 tunes where the director wanted seven. All of them superlative, swears the director, who now has the unenviable task of trying to pare down these unlooked for riches. Or, to put it another way, to reject 23 Ilayaraja tunes.

  This is for all who like IR's voice, I recently got a new cd "IR's Golden Voice" new one from PYRAMID company. This is just mix of IR's songs sung by himself in variou new movies, It has an excellant collection from following movies
  
  avathAaram,pAttu pAdaVa,senthooram,annan,Poonjolai,kavalai padatHe sagOdhara,kumbaKonam Gopalu & kizhakkum Merkkum
  
  All are very good , to mention 'kanmanikku Vazhthu' from annan is a great piece and the best 'Gana kuile' a great song from Poonjolai based on the raga Hamsanandhi , this song is just too good. Also a bonus IR's photo on the cover with his 'signature' and the following slogan
  
  "iravu pagal VendAmA Sooriyanai iru
  pirappu irappu Vendama VanaMai iru"
