Dear TFM fans,
This June 2nd is going to be IR's 60th anniversary, are there any special programs or celebrations planned by either the whole of TFM or Raajangam members?
IMHO, it will be a great treat to all TFM lovers if maestro plans for a world wide concert, especially USA, any thoughts?
I know there was a special thread dedicated for another greats of TFM/MFM KJ Jesudas, few years ago in TFM page. More to follow...

Prabhudas,
IR is too old to give world wide concerts. I would also like to see him doing it, though.

IR is a bit old to tour worldwide. But I think YSR can do. He can play his songs as well as IR's songs.

Anbe Sivam,
Well, If KJJ, Asha Bhosle, Latha M can give concert at there age now, I don't think, it should be a major problem for IR to do the same. I may be wrong, but some of the hard core fans of IR happen to be in USA and other countries.
Atleast some kind of special article/thread about that, as I mentioned above, there was a sticky thread in this forum about KJJ for the similar anniversary running for almost a year or so
Any Rajangam crew have any updates for others to share?

Prabhudas,
There is difference between composer doing a world tour and singers doing it. Singers are involved only on their songs, but composer work is involved in all the songs that they are going to play.
Which means rigorous rehearsals, for which I thought IR was too old. Not for travelling. If his sons help, he could do.

Why don't we leave IR alone. He has to focus on music not on show business. What is Rahman for then? You either a performer or creator? Can't be both. You try both see what happened to Michael Saxon. Fellow is now living on home videos for attention.

IR shouldn't waste his time on tours and the like. This 60 year young genius - a national treasure - should spend his time working on projects dear to his heart and leave the tamasha to the younger ones. IR's creativity is just beginning and rest assured in 10 years we will see an IR we never knew

The last time I met IR and posed the question of concerts to him, this is what he had to say : He is ready to do concerts in the US, but he doesn't want to play music that he has already composed. He doesn't find any joy in that. He would love to compose new music and present it to the audience. But he was lamenting the fact that sponsors do not like his view and want him to play popular numbers since they are unsure as to what they may get. So, commercially he said there was no interest in his idea. If you think about it, it is really incredible that no one is interested to back such efforts. If I had the resources, I would gladly do it. Besides, this reflects IR's creative thought process and I respect him for that. IR is looking to always explore music and is not willing to rest on his laurels. That's just incredible and a tribute to the great man.

That speaks very poorly of IR's fans whom he has given so much. That they want him to a stage a "Show" rather than a true performance. I am glad IR does not compromise

Boys and Girls, Ladies & Gentlemen, Thaimargaley en Iniya Tamizh Makkale En Rathathin Rathamey: Now atleast please see the difference between IR and the rest of the Universe. Sankar Thanks. Wake up fellas. How do you think IR can churn out 4000 hit songs when we are stuck in a dozen songs all our life and bands perform their few compositions over and over again in concerts for 40 years or so? They have nothing else.
Please carry on fruther conversasuns with the Maestor and continue to post it in this forum.

Shankar >> Great post man. I keep admiring this man's passion for music.
That speaks very poorly of IR's fans whom he has given so much>> Edula IR fans enga sir vandanga!
No wonder of a fan who watches the same songs played over in all shows & also promote an album with the same aracha maavu.

This could be anyone who will turn 60 very soon. But this is what some people have to say about HIM.
"HE has that unique gift to please common man and carnatic experts alike" - Semangudi Srinivasa Ayyar (Doyen of Carnatic music)
"As far as I am concerned, I would say HE is the composer of the century. If there is one single authority on 'orchestration' it can only be HIM" - Dr. Balamuralikrishna (South Indian Classical Music Virtuoso)
"That this man has achieved is 100 times more than what any of us have achieved; only time can tell the quantum of HIS achievements" - Mr. Naushad Ali (Doyen of Hindi Film Music)
"I was bewildered after listening to his 'Nothing but Wind' and 'How to Name It'. HE belongs to the 21st century and perhaps beyond" - Maestro Zubin Mehta, Music Director, Israel Philharmonic
HE is none other than Isaignani Ilayaraaja and needs no introduction...Words cannot describe HIS contribution to Music...HE is turning 60 this weekend and we plan to celebrate HIS birthday by listening to 60 of HIS most memorable and special compositions...And we would like you to join us in celebrating HIS music and wish HIM a very long life so that he can continue to share HIS genius with us.
