Dear Music Fans,
Many of us would have nostalgic moments of the past when we used to get attracted to a song/movie
in our childhood / adulthood, which also reminds us of some important moments in our life like some
childhood incident, love, marriage, etc. This is a chance to share those incidents and the song/movie
experience. Come on and contribute. No fights please.

Some of the memorable movies in my life:
1) My Dear Kuttichathan - it reminds me of my childhood (I was in Std VI). I saw this at KG Theatre, Coimbatore - Rs.2.90 ticket :)
2) Salangai Oli - When I initially went to the movie, I was doubtful if I would like it because of the nature of the film (dance) but was enchanted by the Music & Kamal's acting.
3) Aan Paavam - romantic feelings during my adolescence
4) Basha - my 1st movie with the fiancee
5) Bombay - our 1st movie after marriage
I shall add more later.

Forgot to add this - MDK (3D) was a very novel experience then. Especially the scenes where one of the boys shows an ice cream near your face, you can feel the excitement. Also, in the fight scenes where firesticks (thee pandham) are used.

A mention of 'Edi poongodi' by M.R. Vijaya (by O_IS_G in another thread) has rekindled memories of my vacation days. Typical 'varusham 16' type of setting (yearly reunion with my cousins), TV being non-existant, radio used to be life-saver and the heavenly 'ungaL viruppam' music used to be the thiruppaLLi ezhuchchi for the late risers.'Edi poongodi' often found a place in the programme. The very mention of this song overwhelmed me with sweet memories and for a moment it was as though my entire vacation days were being were being screened in front of me as a film. Another common 'ungaL viruppam' song of those days 'sakka pOdu pOdu rAjA' from Bharatha vilas.

Ofcourse, if you were a kid during those days ..My Dear KuttichAththAn..was THE movie. I had to go to Pondicherry to see it. Amongst kids, you could find more Rajni fans than kamal fans I think. I remember going to murattuk kAlai and billA with my brothers and other kids in the street. Another guy, in our street, used to imitate rAjni's mannerisms and hair style. He even had a fan's association by the time he reached high school. (He is a Asst Director now..met him on the bus once).
Later in our teens, bhArathi rAja and bhAgyarAj .were ruling the roost. bhAgyarAj's silly techniques to hug some girl (I dont remember or have seen the movie) used to be so popular :) oru thalai rAgam, inspired a classmate of mine to embroider a bird, dripping its blood on a white rose (somebody tell the story to the kids who have not seen this movie :))
People were writing romantic (and almost dirty) kavidhais ..especially pudhukkavidhais..I dont know what kids do in high school these days..I've seen uniformed girls taking their kid brothers/sisters on a TVS scooty to school. I guess our standards of living have gone up and there must be quite a change culturally too..

Pratap Pothen/Radhika's Meendum Oru Kaadhal Kadhai was featured on DD Sunday afternoon slot in Mar 89, when I was in class 7. Next day in school, once the bell rang for interval, one of our pals from the other section down the corridor raced into our class, pulled out a History book, turned to a chapter on Communism, and pointing to a photo of Giuseppe Garibaldi, exclaimed "Here is Jujju Thatha!"
