After all the allegations and counter allegations, when is it that the world is going to receive the Symphony that our own Maestro composed way back in 1992?
Can any BIG shot in the industry take the pain to release the album? Or better still, can Ilayaraja not release it himself? What's the hassle?

Hello Ravi,
Sorry, I'm a new comer to this forum and my first query happened to be an oft-repeated one...
I had failed to notice the earlier query on Symphony..
Well, any response to my other 2 queries?
Thanks
Neels

Hai everybody!
Why Don't Ananda Vikatan/Junior Vikatan guys are not really helping all IR fans about what and whereabouts of Symphony? or Has Mr. Madan of AV/JV has given up his efforts to find out from IR sources about this as he/his people once gave the info in AV that symphony will be released in 1997?

Friends
During the course of discussions about Danny Elfman (considered the king of film composers) I bought his Men In Black album to confirm my feeling that Danny Elfman is highly influenced by Illaiyaraja's style. I continue to defen that claim, however in the process I found that Danny Elfman may be a shade more sophisiticated that any one composer including Illlaiyaraja in terms of sound mixing or tracks. If you listen to MIB, you will know what I am trying to say. Danny Elfman has so many layers or tracks that the music is highly mutlilayered (more than any western classical orchestral pieces) and yet sounds just like one piece of music. I think, Illaiyaraja should incorporate this feedback into his symphony and bring out some of the most intricate musical patterns ever weaved on this earth.

Illayaraja foot-tapper leads BBC World Service Top 10
Adi Rakamma featured in Dalapati, Mani Ratnam's runaway hit of the Nineties
N Sathiya Moorthy in Chennai
Adi Rakkamma, kaiya thattu, the foot-tapper rendered by S P Balasubramaniam and Swarnalatha, from Mani Ratnam's Tamil megahit Dalapati, starring Rajnikanth, leads BBC World Service's Top Ten list for the 70th anniversary celebrations.
Illayaraja scored the music for the film, a runaway hit in the Nineties.
Also on the Top Ten list, based on entries from 112 countries, are two other Indian songs. One is Vande Mataram, composed and sung by A R Rahman, at the fifth slot. Another Rahman-scorer Chaiyya chaiyya is at the seventh place.
The Indian three are from among the 1,000-odd songs in pop and rap, Western classical and African tribals listed in thousands of votes that have thus far been recorded.
The final list will be run by BBC World Service December 21, according to a BBC release.

Neelakanan Iyer:
In case you didnt know why the symphony wasnt released, ill tell you:
1. IR composed the worst symphony ever,
2. when he tried recording it 5 people died of cardiac arrest in the studio, because it was so nasty, a barking do sounded better.
keeping this in mind, ir himself thought, why make people suffer so he didnt release the symphony.
Basically ir is no good, his syphony still worse, why else wudnt one, release it!
And no one argues with me saying he doesnt want to make it comercial/ make money out of symphony, blah blah blah, cause if he wasnt money minded he wud do his films free off charge!

MANN,
well that is not the reason for not relasing his symphony .As a proof please visit John Scott's page .He is a world class composer .The truth is that Illayraaja sir has some problems with recording company ..

Ilayaraja's Symphony should have been a fake.
The pictures then released should have been taken in a Madras Studio with some anglo Indians around to look like foreigners!
At press interviews IR himself cannot give a clear answer. To record a symphony in that prestigious institute in London, you should pay a fantastic fee apart from the payments to the members of the orchestra all engaged in UK. The question is how IR was able to transfer that much of Foreign exchange from india without Government permission ? Perhaps the Govt. came to know about this and seized the cassette !

O.K. It is a blabber alright!
Then what happened to the composition ?
Why so much of secrecy surrounding this episode ?
Composing a symphony is not a murder, unless the music had brought cardiac arrest for a dozen fellows like mr.neelakanta iyer who started the thread has stated! Blind supporters of IR, please bring out the truth and walk straight !

Have you heard IR's earlier semi-western classical - semi fusion type composition titled
"Nothing but wind" (!). Paul marriet the famous french modern composer , whose style IR copied copiously, laughed heartily when he heard the title of IRs cassette translated to French. In plain English "wind " means 'fart' (Kusu). Hence the title was translated as "Nothing but Kusu" (!) in French.
Ironically if you heard that composition, you will hear a lot of "Kusu" sounds in base cello violin!
