Raji, thanks. I luved reading it too.
Venki, i have just copy pasted what i found. It was written by one Mr.R.Ananthanarayanan.
I was so much amazed & dumbfounded after i read the above article which revealed what "ONE DAY" means in IR's life :-).
Pls take your time and read the article above, it is worth the time it takes.

This article is an old one, first appeared in 1999 and was available in Balaji Ramanathan's site on IR. After the closure of that site I was thinking that this article is not available any where else. I am glad it is available some where now.
R Ananthanarayan used to participate in some of the forum topics as "RA". His contributions used to indicate that he was some one who is or who has been in the know of things.
Undoubtedly this is one of the best written pieces on IR and his style of music making. The orginal title given by RA was "Making Music-The Ilaiyaraaja way!".
It is available here now thanks to S Narasimhan http://www.ic.sunysb.edu/Stu/nsriniva/interests/music/ilai/ircomp.pdf
It would be great if it is made available in more accessible sites including raajangahm.com. It is a surprise that it is not available there when all other Tom, Di...Hary etc. have their "research" pieces there!

Review
---------
Kattula Thalaiyatu
"Kattula Thalaiyattura Siru Avarampoovae", this is the starting line. IR may sing the following line, "Pattula Thalaiyattura En Rasiganae". Yes a nice melody which melts me. Only IR can done this type of songs. New face Vidhu Prathaban has sung well. It will be at top of charts at a long time.
Kundu Malli
New face Sreya Koshal's voice has similarities to Uma Ramanan's voice, I think. A wonderful song and Catchy tune both in Pallavi & Saranam. In Azaki, singer Karthik signs. In SMK Harish Ragavendra signs also with Karthik (Song Etho Onnu). Raja's this melody refresh me while listening. "Kanmaniyae Kathal Enbathu" type starting line, i.e., long pallavi. Also we can compare these two songs. I feel the magical IR touch which may be felt normally by 70's & 80's songs of IR.
Amma Sonna
Again a 'Amma' song. While comparing this with "Amma Enralaikkatha Uyirillaiyae", the Manna song is a karnatic type and in this song there is "Gramiya Manam". We can feel the experience of melting wind in this song. In the cassette it comes two times, one with IR and another with IR & Vijay Jesudass. Some Rajkiran and Ramarajan film songs will be reminded. But there is no disturb to listen this song. It looks like a Devotional song. Some beautiful "Pullankulal" beat. Vijay remembers his father.
Panam Mattum
It looks like a "Thathuva Padal". "En Kuthama Un Kuthama" version of SMK. IR is well suited for this song. It reminds "Rokkam Irukkira" in Kasi (not by tune, music) by lyrics and Situation.
Jakkamma
IR sings. Very slow song. Superb lyrics but lyrics is not disturbed by music and singers
Etho Onnu
"Karthik - Bavatharini", the successful combo comes and also wins again. The "Oliyilae Therivathu" version of SMK. Very catchy tune and beautiful music rendering. This is the only fast melody in this album. IR's magical touch comes at some places of this song. An another fusion of high and low pitch. This song can be liked by any person at any time. It should be at the top of charts.
Some info
------------
There is no Sadhana Sargam
There is no very very sad song
There is no unwanted song like "Eduda Melatha" of Kannukkul Nilavu
"IR-Thankar" becomes a successfull MD-Director combo after "Kathir - ARR", "Sankar - ARR"
Some Questions
-------------------
Who is the lyricist? (It is PA? -There is no info at cassette (bad))
Vidhu Prabakaran and Sreya Koshal are new singers?
Overall
--------
Four Triple OK Songs
One Double OK Song
One Single OK Song
Which is the best of that (4) songs?
I can't tell the answer, i.e., all the (4) songs are marvelous and wonderful
Wov! a fantastic album again
Last but least

Thanks selva, venki, vem, vkay and all other fans who read through that excellent article with patience. As i said earlier, it is worth the time it takes, is it not?
Vem,
i got it from one of IRFans yahoo group. A member sent to group members, and i found it such a treasure that i may as well share it it here immediately.
After reading that article, you come to know a bit more about this loveable enigma called IR. You feel as if you have actually visited the recording theatre yourself while the genius is at work. I really wondered,"what on earth is this man made of?" :-)
Selva,
Nice dream, abt having a webcam in IR's recording theatre. Nadaimuraiyil saathiyama?

"Vaana Villaeeey, Vaana Villaeeey....
Vandhadhenaaa epppodhu...." - a real good song from RAMANA.... i did not hear to RAMANA till now - after reading its review in this thread (of course many said this song was a good one).... today i listened to it (after a friend insisted) - and this one is singing from Thaalam.com again and again...... and i liked the IR version better than Sadhanaaa...... and NagaS - i see an improvement in the way she is pronouncing the words..... hmm....
and the other song "Vennilavin Peraaai Maatravaaa" is also very good..... well, but for these 2, others are so, so only.... hmm.... i wish IR could have stopped with these 2 alone.....

Ramana - Fanstastic movie with excellent BGM and songs. I saw it today. I am really impressed with the movie and music. Raja Raja thaan. I will see SMK tomorrow. After a long time, Diwali is having two IR releases. Last three years no movies in Diwali. This year he broke the jinx with this masterpiece. Definitely a hit movie with hit album.
