Nowadays Tamil Movies of more personalized life stories are successful with a couple of good songs.
Especially now Box office hits having love stories and Dedication of lovers to thier partners..when rest of the world is heading towards Animation,Space Age and more practical informative movies..
With so much of technical brains around in Tamil Nadu and abroad,is there nobody to take an educative movie about our country's wealth, which in true sense projects our country abroad .

Venki: Did you see Mudalvan? Mudalvan is one such movie which has everything you've mentioned. Good Theme (some may argue that it is too much of an imagination and un-practical), Photography, Choreography, Music and above all great Graphics. For this kind of movie, only big producers and directors can afford to do it. Another movie which comes to my mind is "Hey Ram" (even though it is not released, it is supposed to present the "truth". Most of the producers nowadays, are not after changing the society or convey any message to the society. Their only aim is to earn money at any cost. I've seen many Malayalam movies (dubbed either in Telugu or Tamil), they are really good, but those movies are hardly appreciated (even though it lacks technical elements like animation etc).
Also, even the so called hit movies (Love/Romance theme) did not convey any great message to our society, in turn it induces our youngsters to fall in love and make a big mess of their life.
Apart from this, our people won't accept any SpaceAge movies, unless it comes from Hollywood. A good example is one of Selvamani's movie (I don't know the name of the movie) which was a BIG flop. Ideally our people would prefer if Mahabharath and Ramanayana is picturised with good graphics and animation - I am sure this will be a great hit.

Jana i haven't seen those two movies you have mentioned but so far the attitude of our audience seems to be more oriented and drawn towards movies related to families and their problems. One small example is recently i happened to come across a Hollywood movie named Crazy People and found to my surprise it matches (or copied) my our Bhagyaraj movie i forgot actress was bhanupriya.Eventhough it had the same theme about a mental institution characters being compared to outside people ,this movie didn't have any showy scenes and it was more practical about how current AD agencies were doing anything to catch people attentions. So there was a theme connected to practical world, but in our Tamil movie it finally turns out to be senti.I showed one of our Blockbuster movie to one of my american friends ,he told that i don't understand why when hero and heroine are romancing ,so many girls and guys run around them. That is what people abroad think about our movies.I do accept we have Raja and ARR as Int. Class.
