After conquering the whole of India with his magical, mesmerizing music, A.R.Rahman's world conquest seems like moving strong and fast. Bombay Dreams is now ONE YEAR old and still going strong in London.
Here's a BBC news story which says that "AR Rahman is nothing less than a superstar". Nice to see an Indian, that too a humble, simple man from Tamil Nadu getting so much of adulation from far off places. Way to go Rahman. The whole of India is there to support you.

Madras maestro backing Brum
AR Rahman is backing Birmingham's city of culture bid
A Bollywood superstar is backing Birmingham's bid to become European Capital of Culture in 2008.
Madras maestro AR Rahman - possibly the biggest name in the Indian music industry - is teaming up with the City of Birmingham Symphony Orchestra.
Rahman has achieved superstar status through his Bollywood music, and is reported to be the world's biggest selling living artist - with album sales of more than 40 million - and many more tapes of film music sold.
His first major work outside India was for Lord Lloyd-Webber, writing the score for the West End musical Bollywood Dreams - which is now set to open on Broadway.
The creator of many top West End musicals said: "AR Rahman is nothing short of a melodic genius."

He was in Birmingham on Thursday to promote his partnership with the CBSO.
Rahman will conduct for the CBSO and will compose a new orchestral piece for the orchestra to receive its world premiere next summer.
The new orchestral work will be based on "The Conference of the Birds", an Asian classic by the 12th Century poet Farid ud-Din Attar from Nishapur.
There will also be projects involving young people in a continuing collaboration with the CBSO and mac arts centre over a number of years.
'Large following internationally'
"Birmingham has an excellent reputation as a multi-cultural city and the CBSO is one of the world's best orchestras.
"Symphony Hall too is a fantastic place. I am thrilled to be working here," said Rahman.
CBSO chief executive Stephen Maddock said: "We have a long tradition of working with the most exciting composers and musicians of our day.
"It's a particular thrill to be working with AR Rahman who has such a large following internationally."

Whatever criticisms and let downs, including from me, I am proud of this broadminded young composer from India. God Speed, Mr. Rahman! (Most IR fans do enjoy your music, but it is only that the limelight was stolen from IR even though for a brief period.) It is time, symphonies ane orchestras gathered steam in India and Rahman can do a lot to that end.

Good news for ARR fans and all music lovers. I hope that for all our sake he lives up to the expectations. I hope the music is the melodious kind possibly classical and not the usual hip-hop kind of world music he usually scores. Let's wait and watch.

U stupid matha fuker, go fuk yourself with those ball sniffer's of you know who.
From your amatuerish write-up, it's so obvious you are 1 of those who will get excited by music like the Airtel ad. You really don't know about music. Stop wasting people's time you sick matha fuker.

Teja,
ARR thinks that the white man's fart smells sweet. Yes, go ahead and work in England. ARR is finished in Tamil Nadu. It's just a matter of time before ManiRathnam finds another new music director and ARR will be forgotten...

The Indians cannot do anythin international by themselves, we seek the West' approval. Because, we don't have any risk takers in India who would've done what ALW did for Rahman. Tell me that. Is there any MF in India worth talkin about. I only have great respect for Amitabh Bachchan for having IR do music for Miss World 96. He is the only risk taker in India, if ABCL had not collapsed he would've broguth ARR himself to some exotic projects. Look at me, I am ready to risk it, but I am sitting in this forum most of the time, just talkin ;----)

Before all of you conclude that suddenly the London media is writing thesetotally unsolicited, one may want to explore who the writer of the article is.
In addition, one may want to explore if the above story was based on press releases issued by ARR, A L Webber, the producers of Bombay Dreams or the organizers of the Birmingham Orchestra. The story may also be a result of ARR's organization pitching such stories to the media outlets. And generally the media outlets when they have a lean newsday and have no breaking stories will use such PR materials provided by the interested parties to write such pieces. Anyone with some experience in PR and marketing would know how such stories can be created in the media.
It is up to a wise reader to discern all these background before beliving in such write ups.

Hi guys,
I would say that ARR CC PWCM like IR. ARR depends more on EM than IR. This said I cannot deny that ARR is OOTGCIHP.
(I just struggled through your acronyms, so go figure mine now!!)

Let me also add that ARR DND a NG as IR. IR blends SMDKG but in the end it looks like ADG in itself. But thats not the case with ARR.

Rehman lovers...For the last two or three months in any marriage Reception halls I am not able to listen/sing (as a singer)ARR's songs. Why he allows this much gap? Parasuram and the previous film (scored by ARR) disappointed us. Boys..m m m m m m m m all fast numbers. yet to get a pick..up. For how many days we need do hum the songs from film Rythm. As a last effort, he may try his tunes with the real singers such as SPB,Jesodoss, Unnikrishnan, and some new wards of old singers like charan, vijay etc. When his previous films audio rights reaches Crores, the recent films of ARR down to lakhs. OK let's wait for some good songs, having some 'living period.'

ARR is still down.. Boys was all pretty fast and only 3 songs probably will top the charts..
I saw the trailer of Enakku 20.. unakku 18.. songs were really bad.. ARR's Parasuram kind of songs continue.. save BR in Kangalal Kaithi Sei..
I want Rahman to coemback.. but that is not so for some time atleast

I can't imagine what life would be like without IRR, ARR and many others. There is nothing better than getting a steady stream of music from these greats! Anyone who wants to take maa-behe-ki-gaali in respect to this controversy deserves to be put into isolation for at least a month. If abuse is all you can think of please take your garbage elsewhere

Pity ARR. In spite of winning accolades abroad, he's handing us downright duds (Parasuram, kadhal virus, Baba, Udhaya, and why, even Boys.) HE WAS GREAT, no doubt, but that Rahman seems to have gone into the past tense. Any signs of his returning? None, yet. HJ's going great, and Rahman'll have to bend his back to be the numero uno again.
