Hey people
I have extensively listened to Ilayaraja and I feel that Anjali was his all time best album. The emotions the songs in this film evoke in me are so strong ... especiallt these 3 songs: Vegam Vegam, Anjali Anjali and Vanam Namakku veedhi.
Technically also, his instrumentation is in a different plane in this particuilar album. What do you say?

The pathos factor in his music defintely adds to the effect of this album. Kudos to Maniratnam for giving us really good visulas to accompany the music.

I haven't listened to much of IR. But I've always liked Udhaya Geetham, Punnagai Mannan and Sindhu Bhairavi very much. Commenting on THE best may be difficult.

yes anjali was one of the best works of IR, add Thalapathy to the list.
Maniratnam always extracts best tunes for his movies, it was IR's loss that he couldn't work with Ratnam again.
Rakkama song made it to the 4th spot in some bbc rankings for recording.

YSR sounds really sweet when singing in the songs. I especially liked Something Something and the rap in it.

Oh is that YSR!
"when i say something you listen to that when i show something you look at that"

Thiru, I am sure YSR did not write the lyrics at the age of 9 or 10. I am sure his english is fine now.
YSR has got a Tamil girl from London, not an English girl! The accent would not have made a difference!
