If any of you had watched the "3 tenors"
in star world (on christmas eve), did you notice
the vividhbarathiyin varthaga oliparappu's theme
played by the orchestra ??

whose composition is it ???

  Bacchanale basically means orgy!! this piece of music appears in the opera samson et delilah written by, as mentioned before, camille saint saens. this is the portion when delilah seduces samson and at the end blinds him (kaNNu muzhiyath thOndi eduththup puduvA!). you might also want to check out another brilliant composition of saint saens: danse macabre! both these imho are one of the alltime masterpieces. (most wcm gurus consider both to be hoochy poochy music :-( ) if you live in the u.s., these should be available in any public library in c.d. check them out.

  if you go to madras, please go to the music store in spencer plaza or to landmark on nungambaakkam road. they probably would have this in some collection. (i wont guarantee for the quality of the sound tho! good luck
