Songs in Devar films

Eventhough the immediate reaction would be S_G & the famous "thadan dank dakkun dank thadan dank dakkun dank" music of Bobby Devar films had some great music at irregular intervals. Vettaikkaran(KVM) & Deivam (Kunnakudi!?) had excellent music.
Unnai arinthal from the former &
Tiruchendurin kadalorathil ( lovely TMS-SG combo) & Marudamalai maamaniye ( Madurai Somu's emotion can hardly be matched.
Any other movies that u can remember

  Devar s Bakthi movies had good music.Kandhan Karunai and Deivam had good music.
  
  Kunnakudi can take the credit fully for these two movies though Kandhan karunai had KVM as the main MD
  
  Kunnakudi did good job in the AVM Rajan-Devar movie
  "Marudha malaikku neenga vanthu paarunga"
  
  But MGR-Devar-KVM combo were very average when compared to MGR-MSV/TKR combo.Try comparing
  
  Thotuu vida thottu vida - Thottal poo malarum
  Darmam thalai kakkum - Odum Megangale
  Ore murai than unnodu - Manikka theril maragatha
  Oruvan manathu onbathada- Pallaku vanga ponen
  
  Devar -MGR combo music was never the high point.
  
  SG did mini-wonders with "thai meethi sathiyam","Vellikizhamai viratham","Thayilla kuzhanthai".The songs were much better than the KVM combo
  
  After Devar s death the company moved to IR with "Annai oor aalayam" followed by "Ram laxman" and "anbukku Naan adimai".All the scores were good and for once devar movies' films had music as their strong point.
  
  Then they moved back to SG and churned out trash like "Anjatha Singangal" where SG, already mowed down by IR resorted to blatant lifts
  
  "en kadhal oodangal" - "Tere mere beach me"(LP)
  "Thanna thana" - "Jappu Jaye " (RDB)
  
  Now the group is almost bankrupt.Rajini tried tocontribute by doing "dharmathin thalaivan" for them which had reasonably good songs by IR

  MAny MGR movies WERE DEVAR PRoductions & all HAD KVM's Music
  Many-Thayai kaathA thanayan,Thazhampoo,Vivasayee
  and All were Directed by M.A Thirumugam

  Who was the MD for Vellikizhamai Virutham?
  
  More than music Devar Films will surely be remembered for Murugan movies and animal movies.

  Vellikizhamai Vridham - Music scored by S-G( Kavingar vazhngiya devar arulliya or some such stuff!) The "thadan dank dakkun dank thadan dank dakkun dank" was there in the song deviyin thirumugam"
  OISG ,Kandan karunai the movie was APN's not Devar's.
  I know MGR-Devar combo wasn't that effective -surprising since MGR had a very good ear for music & could sense what would become a hit. But Vettaikkaran was an exception.
  Thunaivan also had that song which was a pilgrim's guide to murgan temples in Tamil nadu.( Maruda malayaane naangal vanangum perumaane..good song)

  The community may be Thevar but devar spelt it with d only.( see in the titles & It is devar films only). It is also well documented that Devar did not have much use for banks & cheques & used to dole out payments in cash only. His one to one relationship with Murugan was also famous. As he came up the hard way he didn't like wasting money so if a particular scene happened to take more takes he used to burst into the choicest expletives starting with "Mother ....& sister....." of Murugan. He believed that they were so close that he could abuse Him! He also single handedly made Marudamalai famous & displaced pazhamudircholai as one of the padai veedus in Deivam.

  I heard this from one of the executives of D(th) films.
  
  After "Aradhana" RK was riding high and was demanding 5 lacs per movie (1971-1972).One day earling morning 9 AM (Hindi Film standard!) he was woken up by his secretary who informed that a madarasi producer with just a veshti and mel thundu with "sandhanam on the chest and a suitcase is waiting to see him since morning and is very adament.
  
  RK "the creature" totally amused came down to see this joker from madras.RK with a smile told him "You know my rate,5 lacs ..money money!!".
  
  To his horror the joker (our Devar) answered back
  "money money ..full payment..Six lacs..this suitcase..call sheet when?""
  
  It was then "haathi mera Saathi" happened which took RK to further heights.

  vengayam, I remember seeing Thever films board in T.Nagar long back. Ok. Let us end this here. :-)
  
  OISG, funny and interesting incident. I heard "Hathi Meri Sathi" was super hit. It was remade later in Thamiz with MGR. Some tunes were reused by KVM (Tak Tak Tak Ithu Manasukuth Thaalam). Any idea about that? How was the MD for Hindi movie?

  Hindi version was Naalai Namathe with MGR and Latha - also a super hit.
  
  Aagattumdaa thambi raaja was completely different from Chal chal chal mere saathi.
  What was Tik tik tik tik ithu manasukku thaalam in Hindi?
  
  KVM has been guilty of reusing tunes. Hindi's Ai mere beti became Kelaai magane in Uthaman.

  There is some confusion here. Naalai namadhe was tamil version of Yaadon ki bharat. Nalla neram was for Haati meri saathi.
  
  HMS's songs were not re-used in nalla neram. It was the original hits of KVM.
  
  There was a film with name "thaayilla kuzhandai" acted by Viayakumar, Jai ganesh and Jaichitra (dula role). It was superb masala movie and in that there is classic song "Nee megam aanaal enna naan thogai aana pinne" MD by SG and sung by TMS & PS. Very great rendering by PS

  I think KVM used LP s tune for "thottal Engam ponnagume en meni ennagumo".I am not sure .. i have heard a Rafi-Lata number.
