Is playing the songs from the film with various instruments and varying tempos BGM?

  Check out April Maathathil. YSR plays the "poi solla intha manasukku" a million times throughout the movie.

  Check out the 10yrs of ARR works, ARR interchanges his whole collection of songs to bgms and whole collection of bgm to songs not forgetting all these are interechanged freely between different movies.

  Yes. Western movies have been doing it since the 1940's, and some of the most famous films have recurring themes as their background music. 'Casablanca' 'Laura' 'Chinatown' etc.

  //recurring themes as their background music.//we are not talking about themes.we are talking about songs.the best(Or worst eg)is ''bgm'' for alai payudhe-ARR plays the songs almost 80-85 pc of the time as the bgm.he can do decent bgm-I particularly liked rhythm and minsara kanavu-but his effort in this dept is not consistent,I feel.

  Maybe if indian movie studios didn't pump out a new film every week, MDs who are in demand, would have more time to compose some decent background music.
