There was an article I read sometime ago (by Ramesh Mahadevan) about Vairamuthu's technique of enumeration in film song lyrics. The example there was -
kaNNukku mai-yazhagu from pudhiya mugam.
The whole song goes as Object-ku atribute azhagu (in the author's own words). There is also pachchai niramE from alaippAyudhE.
I feel this has been used by Lyricists from a long time ago. 2 songs that spring to mind are -kAlangaLil avaL vasandham (pAsamalar) and kodi-yasaindhadhum kAtru vandhadhA (??) Would DF-ers like to discuss more examples?

I invite DF-ers to list more examples, and then we could talk abt some other subtelties. For example, in these two old songs I mentioned, the lyrics deviate a bit from the pattern in a couple of instances (which appealed to me)
kAlangaLil... (last charaNam)
pAl-pOl siripadhil piLLai, avaL panipOl aNaippadhi kanni
kaNpOl vaLarppadhil annai, avaL kavignan AkkinAL yennai
kodi-yasaindhadhum...
nilavu vandhadhum malar malarndhadhA ?
malar malarndhadhAl nilavu vandhadhA ?
I dont think the Vairamuthu songs have these touches.

hari, a small correction.
kAlangaLil avaL vasandham is from Paavamannippu.

Its been in use for long time, but the cheapness of making a whole song with it is recent. TO make it worse there are lyrist who make all thier songs like shoping list...'athu karupu, ethu karupu, athuvum karupu, ethuvum karuppu'

chinna chinna aasai
First Vairamuthu will make a list like maligai kadai list and then make a song out of it..:-))

hmm...
I think that Vairamuthu does do a "maligaik kadai" type list, but there are some tasty dishes in that list, not just the usual thu.paruppu, pa.paruppu and LG perungAyam :-)
Eg in pachchi niramE, the ideas are pretty creative, like bhoomithodA piLLaiyin pAdham though there are some stupid ones (IMO)
undhan narambum (nerve?) pachchai niramE !!
In contrast, the other old songs (kaNNadhAsan?) are not mind-blowingly creative, but still impressive.
I guess its to do with the attitude of composers and fans too... today you bring in pachchi niramE with some nice bass guitar sweeping u off ur feet and the lyrics have to be GRAND too.
Looks like this topic doesnt have much scope for discussion as such... I started it somewhat impulsivly :)
