Hello Friends and foes!
What happened to Illayaraja's so called Symphony ? Can any IR fan solve this million $ question for me?
And please write why IR faced, faces and will face failures in projecting his musical talents
and BGM brilliance at the National or International Level.
I mean to say that He had failed to achieve greater heights outside Tamil Film Music...
What do U people Say ?

Dear Common Friend !
There r very few people who have started a thread regarding the Topic which I had selected..in this newtfmpage.....
But, I wonder how they(IR fans I mean to say) are going to tackle this million $ ? ......
Inarguably... A.R.Rehman has changed the trend of Tamil film music from the moment the sound genius entered this field......
Even the Maestro who dominated the whole scenario for around 15 to 20 yrs could not with stand at present in front of this great trend setter who brought a significant change in Tamil film music.
A balanced way of producing tunes and sounds are ARR's strenghts..( can't u agree with me )
See,
I do agree that IR is a genius.
But,just give a thought about his success after the advent of ARR's new trend.
After the release of "Roja" IR has lost his glory although he has tried some variations to face the present trend ( importance to sound as well as tunes ).
What do u say?

Anyway...IR will always be the Maestro of of TFM and ARR the current STAR and genius ...just because the trend has changed,. please don't overlook the genius work of IR for the past 20 years...tomorrow after ARR is old and a younger face takes his place.we have to answer the same questions...anyway my theory is..a truly creative person will keep on learning and adapting and still surprise..so let's see how the current crop of MDs can keep up..

But the strange thing is that I'm 27 yrs old and already have a complex that 16 and 20 year olds are much ahead of me in brain growth and exposure...and their musical tastes..well, is different..if I can feel this way...then just imagine IR's feelings about the current music trends...that's why I think he's keeping away and let's his son take over...

cosmician..have you read any psychology ? It is very natural for young people to like/be different from the older people. Do you think young people are smarter than you are ? Then you have a problem :) There is not going to be any significant difference in IQ over a generation. It is just that young people are exposed to more info than the older one were in their youth.
Dont let somebody younger than you convince you that they are smarter :) You are not responding to your survival instincts then :)

"I'm 27 yrs old and already have a complex that 16 and 20 year olds are much ahead of me in brain growth and exposure"
This is really sad. That is not the right feeling. FYI, "Brain Growth" is not a relative term. Number of brain cells in a new born baby is 100,000,000,000 which is the same as number of stars in the milky way. It was believed that our brain cells start decaying at ages around 40. This means as the brain ages it may lose some of its neural activity, experience a shrinkage and reduction in the number of dendrites, the filament-like extensions of the axons or main nerve fibers. In normal circumstances the dendrites of a given axon connect with the dendrites of many other axons, thus enablingfull communication of information. As these connections shrivel with age, the communicating ability decreases. We find ourselves forgetting names of people, and then names of things and facts. However, a recent study by Dr. Diamond from UC Berkeley proved that there is no memory loss in group of nuns aged 90 years. So cheer up!..You are just caught up in the process of nature's game--illusion...

there are only 2 fields where there are child prodigies-one is music -the other one is maths.this is not from me-i have read this somewhere else -so dont jump on me.the part of brain which has to do with the spatial aspects of both these fields is the common factor in the evolution of prodigies in both these fields.this may explain the evolution of chess prodigies which again involves spatial orientation.
another common factor is that they all die young and very rarely keep up the promise they show .mozart, mendelssohn,ramanujam...
mozart wrote his first symphony at age of 8!
