I think Deva is becoming a butt of various jokes. But he is like one of us, if you don't realise. He has been a fan of Raja all his life.
He is easily the best fan IR has ever seen, because this man has atleast composed film music, while we are sitting in different parts of the world, figuring out how far we can go with our exisitng professions, we have Mr. Deva, the not so Raga Devan, but the Devaadi Deva, who has given us folks in the absence of the great Raga Devan, great songs.
Look at that Rajni Song, Autokaran, Autokaran, naan naalum therincha autokaran, nalavanga route karan, etc. It not only describes our city's Auto drivers during a typical frustrating day, but also Mr. Deva. ?! What I mean is, that song is just a total surprise, I can't find any composition of even IR matching the pace and melody of that song.
Even more surprising is the final words of the song: Aachukku, Gummikku, aah, aachukku ina achakku than, aah gummikku ina gummikku than. Fantastic. Super o super.
Please let us give him due respect and credit. Please don't read any humor in the analogy. What I mean Deva is really talented and we must recognize that.

If you see the " target="_top">http://www-anw.cs.umass.edu/~ravi/tfm/test/25709.9.html"> Psycology of Transitions thread you will understand a little bit why people react like that and why people have such opinions about various MD's.
There are lot of "theevira fans" so to call because they like the music of that MD very very much. By doing so they might get a "Substitutional pleasure". Hence you would see a lot of discussions comparing various MD's. But we cannot avoid that because it up to individual's thinking whether they want to be a "theevira fan" or not. But there are lot of other people also in the DF who appreciate all kinds of good music irrespective of the MDs. So do not worry about the various jokes that people make about Deva please contribute what you think is the best from Deva.
I like all of melodious songs from Deva. To quote a few here:
Kaalamellam kaadhal vazhga
Nalam Nalam ariya aavaal
both from Kaadhal Kottai.
Vennilave Vennilave vekkam eenammaa
Oru mani adithhaaal kanne unn nyabagam
Telephone kuyile vendum unn darisaanam
from Kaalam ellam Kaadhal Vazhga.
Kaadhalaa Kaadhalaa Kaadhalil thavikiraen
from Avvai Shanmugi
All the songs in Aasai.
All the songs in Nerukku Ner.
I heard there were some melodious songs in Porkkalam. If anybody have heard songs from them please post it here.
Cheerup :)

Thanks for your response. I have heard that Deva is a very religious and humble person. Not forget his talents. I wish him the very best.

My favorites from Deva to date:
Gokulathu kaNNaa kaNNaa--Gokulathil Seedhai
Nalam nalam ariya aaval--Kaadhal Koattai
Manam virumbudhae--Naerukku Naer (based on naLinakaanthi raagam; I like the Unnikrishnan version better)
However, in the spirit of having fun, I'm adding the following verses to Satish's to complete "Deva's Pugazh Maalai". I wrote some of the following in another thread a few months back; some are new.
kaettadhum koduppavanae iLayaraja raja
mellisai mannavanae viswanadha nadha
kaetkindra geedhathilae iru shankar vedha
pala raagangaL varavazhaippaar indha Deva Deva
maatriya raagathilae indha Deva Deva
rasigarai mayanga vaippaar oh Deva Deva (God)
(Original: TMS in Deiva Magan)

Another feather to Deva's cap: The so-called theme song of 'avvai shanmugi' ('vEle vEle') is 'inspired' from a song called 'Workaholic'. I do not know who the singer is. I heard it on the streets and discovered that it was from a CD titled 'Hits Unlimited'. Pardon me if somebody else has already given the news.
