NOV:
Hahahaha :))) You are back from your vocation. Where did U go, India? and How was your trip? Believe you had a very good time and lot of fun (I can see that from your previous posting)
Now back to the topic:
In this Discussion Forum, many people mentioned that (including you, NOV) die-hard Ilayaraaja fans can't digest the emergence of ARRehman into TFM world and they simply ignore the fact that IR has been replaced by ARR. They also said MSV fans faced the same problem when IR entered the field. I'm asking couple of questions to clarify whether the same transition is going on in TFM right now or not. And believe that those people who are aware of what happened those days especially MSV fans will give us some answers.
1. After IR's entry, for how many movies MSV
scored music and how many of them are good?
2. What was the last hit movie by MSV before
IR's entry? which year?
3. What was the last hit movie by MSV after
IR's entry? which year? (is it Ninaithaale
Inikkum?)
4. And what was his reaction about IR? Did
he say anything good about him or just left without saying anything in interviews?
Do you still want to say something irrespective of these questions related to that transtion period? Please share your information.
In this topic, I want to know whether the transition is really happening or we simply ignore like others said just because we love IR.
If anybody thinks these questions won't give us the proper answer, please post your own questions.
All of them are welcome to discuss ...

It's unfair! Psychology of transition thread-il
discuss paNNa vENdiya vishayangaLai ingu thaniyaaga
discuss paNNa aarambichteenga! Anyway, here are
my comments.
It's an interesting idea to discuss the topic:
die-hard Ilayaraaja fans can't digest the emergence of ARRehman into TFM world
I will make several comments.
0. MSV fans faced the same problem when IR entered the field
In the case of MSV-->IR transition, it was,
I felt, a natural one. Even several years before
IR stepped-in, say during 1973-77, MSV had lost his
touch, and several MDs were doing as well as him
(KVM, SG, VK, VBhaskar, GKV, Govardhanam ..) and
TFM was already in a state of flux, with no one
able to clearly take control. Bang came Ilayaraja!
The fall of MSV then came naturally.
I wouldn't compare that transition with what's
going on now: IR steps out a little bit to
concentrate on non-filmy music, and comes back to see
that others have occupied the driver's seat!
Unlike MSV in the previous transition, I feel
IR hasn't lost his teeth! If he plays his cards
properly, say by concentrating on a small number
of movies and doing a wonderful job in them, my
feeling is that he will be back in business. BUT,
with the big TFM guys not in that good relationship
with IR, anything could happen.
1. After IR's entry, for how many movies MSV
scored music and how many of them are good?
You wouldn't believe this statistic! But it's true: MSV (alone) did only about 180+ movies
before IR came-in. Then, after IR's arrival, MSV
went-on to do another 180! In the pre-IR 180,
most of the songs were excellent. In the post-IR 180,
most of the songs were bad! Amazing, isn't it?
2. What was the last hit movie by MSV before
IR's entry? which year?
Movies such as oorukku uzhaippavan,
manmadha leelai, muththaana muththallavO,
annan oru kOyil, moondru mudichchu, avan oru sariththiram,
meenava naNban etc. were some movies with
excellent songs that came around the time of
IR's entry.
3. What was the last hit movie by MSV after
IR's entry? which year? (is it Ninaithaale
Inikkum?)
I really cannot answer this well since I lost touch
with TFM after early 1980. I only know that
vaRumaiyin niRam sigappu came after
N.Inikkum.
4. And what was his reaction about IR? Did
he say anything good about him or just left without saying anything in interviews?
Actually I would be very interested in knowing
about this! In fact, I had asked a more general
version of this question in the Psychology ..
thread: How did the MDs involved react in the
transition period?
I will repost this question there. Thanks for reminding.
