Guru Sishya tradition in TFM

  Sorry to post this response quite late, but my PC crashed on me!
  
  Among the film directors, there seems to be clear guru - sishya tradition e.g Bhagyaraj came from the Bharathiraja school who in turn had Pandiyarajan as his asst and so on. Many directors today had a stint as an asst director before they started on their own.
  
  I am wondering whether this is true of the MDs too. Certainly there arent that many MDs as directors. But werent GK Venkatesh, Govardhanam assts to MSV-TKR ? Did IR work for GKV ? Of course, MSV himself was an asst to CR Subbaraman and SMS. How come nobody came from the GR school ? or the KVM school ?

  This is true even for Panju AruNaachalam as a lyricist. He was kannadaasan's assistant.

  ARR used to work for IR. And IR used to work for ARR's father in Malayalam films. GA mentioned this in an interview.

  VIP fame Ranjit Barot comes from the school of ARR. The song Mercury Pookkal has Ranjit Barot's name for additional rythming or something. He should be working with ARR I guess.

  Sabesh-Murali? Assistants (?) in Music (??) for Deva (?????). They are his brothers. Deva has around 4 brothers who are into music. So he asks them to concentrate on one MD each. Deva concentrates on MSV-IR. One on ARR and so on. Now two more of his brothers have learnt music and wanted to concentrate on somebody. One went to HFM and other to Western. Now you know what is meant by 'concentrate'. Assistants of a different kind.

  MSV considered SM Subbaiah Naidu as his guru.
  
  Both MSV and TKV were assts to CR Subbaraman.
  
  GK Venkatesh assisted MSV-TKR. He sang the song "Sondhamum Ille" in Hello Mr. Zamindaar. He also did the whistling in "Andha Naal Mudhal".
  
  Govardhanam assisted MSV-TKR.
  
  I belive Henry Daniel assisted MSV and did music for a few Telugu movies.
  
  Shankar-Ganesh were assts to MSV.
  
  IR used to play in GKVs troupe.
  
  Pugazhendi, a loyal asst to KVM spurned offers to go alone.
  
  ARR played in IRs troupe.
  
  Ranjit Barot comes from ARR school.
