Fellow TFM fans:
The song "Isaiyil thodangu..." in Hey Ram sounds very similar to some other IR's hit. I see similarities with pieces of "sorgamE enRAlum athu nammOrai pola varumaa" and "thenRal vanthu ennaith thodum". Can anyone else has pointers to what song has been recycled by IR?
Also I thought the song "Nee paartha" (Asha & Hariharan) in Hey Ram was similar to "O butterfly" by IR.
In general with the move to Synth/computer based music recently IR also seems to recycle bits and pieces of music, and rhythms/beats a lot...

Isaiyil thodanguma and Sorgame endrallum are based on same raga - so they will obviously sound similar !!

Continuing the earlier postings on the rediff review of HR by Mahesh Nair, I think the review was POOR, and cant be called as a review at all. How about sending mails to rediff giving our mind on this?
bluesy, your cut-n-paste lengthy posting contained 2 lines about music. you would have conveyed your ideas better had you just given those 2 quotes. PEACE! ;)

Hi Kiru,
The raagam seems to be a variant of another raaga named HamsaNAdham, with a slight difference.

Thanks for the info. on IR's Commercial sucesses Vel, :-) (After a loong Gap ? ;-)
According to Music world, Hey Ram Tamil version is in No.1 and Hey Ram Hindhi version is No.4 in cassete sales in their branches. This is the first time an album is getting such an appreciation in both the languages - their manager says.

Hi Folks:
I listened to "Ramar Andalum..." several times to note the musical magics that IR has used in this song. There is a bit that repeats in this succession, close to the end of some line in lyrics : there is bang first (may be trumpet or horn), and there is a few notes of piano or organ and then followed by a sutle battery of violins that quickly fade away. Just ignore the lyrics and watch for this set-up. It is an absolute delight..It seems to come only in few times..
Note after Kamal sings,in the first interlude, "thiratsai Rasam..," there is a solo violin that starts and finishes up in an ecstatic repetition..
The second stanza has a symphonic background..
The final set has a tabala and chorus.. amazing..
I saw and felt vintage IR at his best!

Hi friends,
It seems Raja is composing music for a film called "Kannan Varum Neram" and he is also composing for Puratchi as well. It seems theBGM has reached well with the audience as well. Hats off to Raja.

Arularasan,
Raja's Website should not be confined only to Tamil Fans. The name of the Website itself is pure Tamil word. IR has lots of fan in all over India, they cannot recognize what this site means.
