Sadly, tomorrow's generation, and a good bulk of today's also I'm afraid, can never understand the import of what are seemingly simple lines. A close parallel is MahAkavi Bharathi's "Sinthu nathiyin" that shows how much of a cliche 'national integration' has been reduced to.

dinesh "scar"an is scared of Harris Jayaraj. Comparing snehitane song with vaseegara is like comparing "man soru"(Soil rice) with "mogal biriyani". Oh man jealousy can drive people so crazy.. but not like this.. dinesh scaran you look like a green eyed monster raging with jealousy.

Agreed vaseegara is one of the best songs of last year. But the song from AP beats it left light and centre. What's there in AP's song and what's not there in Vaseegara is infact the Soul.

Think of a song that has the following features.

Great tune (IR, MSV have a lot to offer)
Beatiful archestration (one and only IR to think about here)
Good singing (SPB, KJY, TMS, hari haran)
Good lyrics (kannathasan, vairamuthu)
Proper use of a classical raga (IR, MSV, KVM have a lot to offer)

Keeping all this in mind, I would vote for the following:

1. andhi mazhai pozhigirathu (this song is almost 20 years old but see how fresh it is even now!)
2. Ilaya nila.. great song. what more to say?
3. paatum naane -- TMS/KVM combo. A Master piece
