MPR - I don't know anything about his Hindi movies, but I think, judging from the total number, his preference has always been with Tamil movies.
What do you think of his hairstyle? :-)))

Ramki - Sorry to hear about your problem. Let me contact them by phone and get back to you.
Anyway there has been a directive from the minsitry for all radio stations to reduce playing foreign songs, to control royalty payments. This means there will be less TF songs and more local Tamil songs, which IMO, is incomparable to those from the TF industry. Namathu ulloor paadalgalei paththi unga opinion yenna?

ARR had purposefully made that kind of hair style to make an impression in the international market I believe. I was told that after that International Album he has removed that hairstyle. (Kathodu Kaadhil Kaettadhu, no HTML Proof) :-))))

Warning: Digression
Ramki - Ungalin intha statementai: "But in general I felt Spore singers were better than Msian singers." kadumaiyaaga aatchebikkirein! :-))
Singapore has a few hundred thousands of Indians (Seven percent of the small population?) Malaysian Indians comprise 10% of 18 million people. Logically, there would be more and better singers in Malaysia. What Malaysian Indians lack is TV exposure. But Malaysians generally know of their existence. It makes sense that Singaporeans may not know many Malaysian singers. For instance I know none of the Singapore singers you have mentioned. In fact did you know that this region's best kavignar and famous singer Re Shanmugam is Malaysian. He was based in Singapore for a few years but is now back here. Also don't forget Malaysia Vasudevan. His brother MS Gopalan is also quite popular. Does any of these names ring a bell? Suseela Menon, Kesavan, Malarvizhi, Rajaraja Cholan, TMS Guna and SP Bala (who sings Ghandasala songs)
The male/female singer you mention is Pala Kural Mannan Sri Shanmuganathan. India-vukku poai oru kalakku kalakiyavar avar. :-))
Ramki - after all this hulabaloo, I think you missed my point when I asked for your opinion. :-)) I was asking you about local (meaning Malaysian) Tamil songs, and not about local singers singer TFSongs! There are plenty of these, which you must have heard over Radio 6. IMO, they are not as appealing as TFSongs. Any comments?
On your query about Radio 6, I couldn't get through to them. I'm still trying. Will respond later. In the meantime check out Uyirodu Uyiraga songs AND poll at the TFM Awards. :-)))
The rest of the people: Sorry for the digression. Okay, back to ARR! :-)))

Ramki - I was just on the line with Raman of Radio 6. He was surprised that the server is down and will report the matter to the right people. He couldn't remember his e-mail address but has promised to contact me later. BTW, Radio 6 tel nos are: 603-2857276 and 2857571.
Raman produces radio programmes on the Internet and has invited me to speak on the subject. I could use this opportunity to popularise the TFM-DF pages. :-)))
He also knows our Manisekaran and says that "Mani romba vishayam therinthavar!"

NOV thats GREatttttttttt and thanks for the pain taken
Personally i like Ramans(and also krishnans) selection of songs. He used to produce the Baba masalavin 'putham puthu paadalgal'nigazhchi(every sunday morning). He used to give a lot of info abt the songs and the respective films.
Now coming to Msian singers vs Spore singers. NOV u have all the reason to oppose my views but i should admit i dont listen to much of Msian songs.
REgarding the singers(again?:))Suseela menon was good and i liked the album she did with SPB.There were couple of good songs(i think the MD was Boopalan rite?)There is one spore based singer called Malarvizhi(a very good singer). Are u talking abt the same one??
TMS Guna was good(I guess he acted in one Msian film .rite?)
Regarding the songs MVasudevans'kampung kanigal'
was good. But he didnt make use of any Msian singers in that album(avarai thavira)
The standard of locally produced songs were not
appealing but it was aimed toward the local population so i guess we cannot expect more.
Still they came out with nice surprises( i dont remember the starting lines now )
Now since we are discussing the Msian radio programmes what u think abt Boopalans'ungal sindhanaikku' nigazhchi(it comes arnd 6 in the morning and replayed again at 10.10 in the nite)

Ramki - Apologies again for not looking up this page earlier!
I am very happy that you are able to get Radio 6 again.
Personally I find Raman a bit stiff, in his announcements but as you say, his selections are quite good. Baba's new Sunday special is called Siranthavei Paththu. Do you listen to the programme?
Re Malaysian singers (yup! Again!) Suseela Menon has recorded several albums. The duets she did with SP Balasubramaniam indeed very good. Poobalan is more a lyricist than an MD. The SM duets were MDed by Vasant (I think). I used to be a fan of Poobalan's "Ungal Sinthaneikku" but have now grown tired of it. What is your opinion?
MV's album was Kampar Kanigal, not Kampung Kanigal. BTW, Kampung means Gramam. :-)) The album was produced by a guy called Kanimuthu who is from Kampar (a district). The reason why M'sia Vasu used Indian (TN) artistes in the album, was because it was recorded in Chennai.
I don't know whether TMS Guna has acted in any movies, but his impersonation of TMS is very good. BTW, did you listen to the 1997 talent awards. The winner's rendition of Sangeetha jaathi mullai was excellent. It was later telecast on TV, and my God, he was superb - the audience just loved him!
Your comment - " The standard of locally produced songs were not appealing but it was aimed toward the local population so i guess we cannot expect more" was terrible. :-))
Local population-na ungalukku ilakkaaramaa poacha? :-))
Raja M - There are not many Tamil movies made in Malaysia/Singapore that are worth mentioning. They are like kurunji malargal! I remember Naan Oru Malaysian - a typical MGR-clone and Rajkamal's Idhaya Nayagan, MDed by Deva (yes our very own Deva!) Don't crack your head over them as you are not missing much. So much for patriotism.:-))
