i am a HCIR fan. but you got it wrong pal.
the composer (vangelis) did some variations to his older pieces of "1492, a conquest of paradise" and also "chariots of fire"....
if you listen to both the pieces which came out in late 80's you will notice the resemblance in term of melody, style and also the instruments and arrangement....

True Siva. 1492 Conquest of Paradise has some great tracks - the tracks which have a heroic feeling.
Too bad for IR fanatics who think every hit song is by IR. I remember someone claiming IRs songs used in Mission Impossible.

There's hardly any similarity!!!!!!!!!
People are going to say use of same instruemnts like tabla by two music directors is also a copy!!!!!
In the age of Indian people managing scoops like kareena photos , Tehelka & Shankaracharya at least music lovers are also getting inspired to make up this much. Good future for media!!But please come up with genuine stuff

This may not be true but the theme of a popular video game "max payne" has a strong resemblence of climax theme[rain and thunder] from jhonny

Hollywood is not copying IR.. and IR did not lift anything from Conquest of Paradise... Don't just look for some stupid reason to start a thread... newtfmpage is becoming too boring these days.. Guys, pl talk about something educative and music related..
I am a big fan of IR too.. but it's way too irritating when people say that some hollywood music director is lifting from IR.. those folks dont even know who IR is and for that matter they don't even know where India is in the world map :)...

Well, i am not saying IR copied from Vangelis. All I am saying is that the person who started this thread got all wrong. i am a HCIRF myself.
i think Vangelis copied his own track, so its perfectly fine.

Siva, Vangelis is learning from ARR now, who so far was Vangelis of India ;--)
IR copying from Vangelis?!!! - crude speculation (forced to clarify this point in my long vacation!)
One thing I want to state: IR has restated music, reinvented music in its entirety like Ramanujan reinvented math of 200 years before him plus gave for another 100 years ahead.
Any hollywood or bollywood or Evangelist copying IR also is not possible, simply they don't have the capacity to figure out from the reinventions.
Hollywood cannot copy IR, first of all, there is no scope for this level and depth for music in Hollywood, maybe they can continue playing with computer graphics and video games, and simulation rides, but that is about it ( a million programmers can do those these days.)

enabler,
You are simply blinded with fanatism. Even before IR was born, there was music in the west and the west has produced composers far superior to IR.
There is no need for hollywood to copy from IR. But IR himself has copied some hollywood songs and presented them as his own work.
Finally, IRs music stays only within South India. Imagine, a person whose songs are not at all popular in the larger part of India, copied by the West?
Absolutely ridiculous posting.

Guess Me, the West has also produced Rodin The Thinker and Apollo and so on. This is not about comparison.
.....Even before IR was born, there was music in the west and the west has produced composers far superior to IR ......
I don't know if that was the point I was making. There was much more beautiful music in the West, Yes, I agree - a few thousand compositions from various individuals composers. But, composer wise, I think you jumped a bit ahead blinded by my supposedly blinding fanaticism. See Mr. Manisekaran' thread also for further details, I suppose you may have plenty to discuss in detail about a Beethoven or Bach concerto, etc.... But, I don't find much stuff other than overall beauty, details are missing in the overall beauty. Look at the Apollo statue or Cupid' or something - THE GENIUS IS IN THE DETAILS, MY FRIEND, THE DETAILS.
This is about Vangelic Chariots of Fire (bulcra of a composition) and IR finding some detail in that guy' works to come up with inspiration! Blah! Yes, Rahman did it, God knows how.

And to the rest, go ahead to proof IR's Guru sounded like Vangelis' earlier works. Sample clips? Title tracks? etc
Otherwise, it's just MORE sour grapes I guess.

Dont worry abt me KK. I actually have seen many fools like you who believe every good composition is by IR. Dont turn away from facts. IR copies from english songs is a fact.
For the others, dont bother replying to KKs post. He is just another deaf IR fanatic.

Guys, Hollywood music directors hear a lot of Eastern music for inspiration itseems. They hear a lot of our pieces before they score music. That is true. Hollywood people know IR & ARR. Visit the link given below, a hollywood music director has said about IR and his symphonic composing. IR has said that few of his songs were inspired from Mozart, Bach and Beethovan's symphonies.
I don't know how many people know that MSV has used Spanish music, western music etc in his movie. He had used the tunes as such. Anubhavam puthumai is a Spanish number.
Even C R Subbaraman, Trichy Lohanathan etc had given Westerns in their own tunes.
ARR gives a lot of Western based songs. Many Michael Jackson kind of songs (Inspired).
Music directors have these kind of co-operation between each other.
