Why IR did not use Vani Jayaram much ?

All times in EST +10:30 for IST.

VJ's rise, with MSV giving more opportunities to VJ in place of PS in the seventies, did not last long.

When IR entered, he did not give much importance to VJ and that brought about her downfall.

I think, IR should have used VJ more.

One of the last few songs which VJ did for IR, as far I could remember are "Inraikku Aen Indha Aanandhame" and one another song for Revathi in "Punnagai Mannan"

I am not counting "ViswaTulasi".

The last time, we heard VJ in Tamil, is in "Edhu Sugam Sugam Adhu Vendum Meendum", I suppose, from "Vandicholai Sinrasu" by ARR.

The song is a duet with SPB and Vani has done really well.

Also, has VJ rendered any song for Deva ?

Friends, what do you feel about IR's usage of VJ ?

  Thankfully IR didn't use her much.. Just listen to the songs such as
  
  Vaa Vaa en Veenaiye and Ammamma Saranam from the Kamalhassan - Madhavu starrer (Savaal, I guess).. she sounds pathetic in that.
  
  Moreover IR found S.Janaki as an versatile singer to sing duets with SPB, sing like a child, like an old lady etc.
  
  And not to forget, Chitra emerged in the mid eighties to completely close the doors on Vani.

  We know VJ as a more classical singer.
  
  But IR has given songs like
  
  "Vaa Vaa Pakkam Vaa; Pakkam Vara Vetkamaa..." (From "Thanga Magan")
  
  "Hey I love you; I love you; I love you" (From "Unnai Naan Sandhithaen")
  
  Meanwhile, Friends, I am again putting my question ?
  
  Has VJ sung any song in "Thenisai Thendral" Deva's Music ?
  
  Also, Is "Indraikku Aen Indha Aanandhamae" the best song ever of VJ in IR's music ?

  It's difficult to qualify any song as "the best song ever of VJ in IR's music"...however, all the following numbers are very good:

  -nAnE nAnA, yArO dhAnA, mella mella mArinEnA (azhagE unnai ArAdhikkiREn)
  -kuRinji malaril (a-u-A)

  these 2 are her best with IR other than the most popular naane naana... VJ is a special singer. IR has been giving using her consistantly in the 80's. Even MSV has given her only a few songs but good songs.
  
  Ethu sugam sugam athu..vendum vendum... VJ+SPB duet is my favourite from ARR. Did she sing any more songs under ARR?

  In fact Vani Jayaram sang almost all the songs in the Telugu version of Agni Nakshatram, Gharshana. The Tamil ones were sung by Janaki.

  VJ has sung many hit songs for IR, though not as many as some others, you can find them in VJ songs thread.
  VJ sang one duet with Malaysia Vasudevan in "Vaikasi Porandhaachu" for Deva. Other than that I don't know of any song that she sang for him.

  VJ has sung in every Thirupur Mani film (Vandichakkaram, Aaniver, etc). That is how she sang for "Vandicholai Chinnarasu" also, which happened to have ARR's music.
  
  Sharath,
  "vA vA en vINaiyE" and "ammammA saraNam" were both very popular songs that got plenty of airtime in Neyar Viruppams on radio around 1983/84.

  M, VJ also has sung the Telugu versions of "Aayiram thaamarai" and Tamdanaanamdana" if I am not mistaken. Also, a song "Sangeetam En Deham Anro" comes to mind.

  True that VJ has done songs for IR. Not a matter of dispute.
  
  But, she did not make her impact felt in IR's music, as Janaki or Chitra.
  
  Taking a look at the list of songs, VJ has done for IR, most of them happen to be in Kamal-starrers, it seems.
  
  Now I am remembering,
  
  "ABC Nee Vaasi Ellam Un Kairaasi" from "Oru Kaidhiyin Dairy".
  
  "Kavidhai Kellungal" from "Punnagai Mannan"
  
  Also,
  
  "Devi Sree Devi Un Thiru Vai..."
  "Mazhai Kaala Megam Ondru"
  
  But the music for the above two songs was by Gangai Amaran, I guess.
  
  Meanwhile, is the song
  
  "Aaala Asathum Malli Dhaan; Thookam Enakkum Varla Dhaan Varla Dhaan" by SPB & VJ from "Kanni Raasi" ?

  VJ sang in Devas very first film. I dont recall the films title , it was some 'mannaaru'

  Was IR, the MD for any of the following songs of Vaani ?
  
  "Gangai Yamunai Ingu Dhaan Sangamam"
  
  "Ninaivaale Silai Seidhu Unakkaga Vaithaen Thiru Koyile Odi Vaa"
  
  Both come in the combination of KJY-VJ and also happen to from films, where Sivaji plays the lead role

  bala Devas first movie is 'maatukaara mannaaru' followed by 'manasuketha maharaasa'. Vaigaasi porandhaachu ,which should be his 3rd or 4th film made him popular
