ARR's magix

I have to be honest.
I am tired of all the ARR bashing and IR thalaikku mele thookki vachu aadurathing.

Just when we finish one discussion, another one cops up. Reminds of flies on sweets. Bat as much as you want, but you will never keep em all away. :)

So, what has that got to do with ARR's magix (not magic mind you), you may ask?

Well, as you probably know now, magix is a big time fan of ARR (and many of his age are), so this thread is to discuss ARR's fan base.

Let's have some fun now and treat this thread as a paalaivana cholai. :)

  Daxco Digital building new studio for A.R.Rahman
  
  
  A 3,000 square feet studio is currently under construction in Chennai, India, and is scheduled to be completed by end of 2002. It will be the new home for A.R. Rahman's Panchathan Record Inn from where he has churned out his numerous hits.
  
  The studios will not only house a full-blown Recording Suite but also a Film Mix Stage where final mix-downs will take place. The Acoustic Design & Architectural plans for the studios were made by Studio 440, acoustic architects from CA, USA who have designed studios for Interscope/ Universal Music Group, Warner Brothers, Burbank, California and Saban Entertainment, just to name a few.
  
  A local Architectural and Construction Company in Chennai has been appointed to excute the project and to ensure that all construction is done according to Studio 440's stringent plans and design. Studio 440 is overseeing the construction through site visits and correspondance together with Daxco Digital.
  
  The Control Room is equipped with a 140 channel Euphonix System 5 Digital Mixing Console with 2 cores. Recording will be done on the Euphonix 48-track R-1 Digital Recorder and Pro-Tools. The Monitoring System is a Miller & Kreisel 5.1 surround THX system. Some of the Outboard equipment includes Manley, Focusrite, Lexicon-960L, TC-6000.
  
  The Mix stage will be home to Thomlinson Holmen's Terrasect Speakers and the Main studio will be using exclusively designed George Massenburg Speakers.
  
  Through the combination of professional design by Studio 440 and consultation and supply of state-of-the-art equipment by Daxco Digital, A.R. Rahman's Panchathan Record Inn will be one of the best designed and equipped Recording Studio in Asia.

  From my experience, ARR Fans come in all shapes, sizes and agegroups. Let me go thro my family. My 10-mth old nephew (sister's son) is an ardent ARR Fan. He already has his favs too. My gramps like ARR songs as well. Interestingly, my 7 year old and 12 year old bro and sis have zero tolerance for any tfm MDs' music dating BARR (before AR Rahman). My Dad is a fan of really ollldd tfm music (stuff which dates before MSV--real dinosaur), but appreciates good ARR music (his favs excludes stuff like Pettai Rap). Mum loves ARR's music too. My boyfriend is a HCARRF himself (not a visitor of this forum). Jus before we started going out (abt 3 years back), exchanging ARR cds was one of the ways we got closer. When we have our engagement reception later this year, we have already planned all the ARR songs we'll be playing. My sister's sis-in-law, a lady who has lived in Europe most of her life and has had no exposure to Indian music whatsoever, fell so much in love with ARR's songs during my sis's wedding tat she brought back a stack of ARR cds for herself before she left Singapore.
  
  There was a big sports chainstore in Singapore called Royal Sports House or something like that (the actual name misses me now). It is owned by an Indian guy. Around the mid 90s when Muqabla was at the peak of its fame, the co used the ending bit of the song (the accompanying music when Prabhu Deva's clothes dance on their own) for the advertising campaign on TV. This was aimed at the general Singaporean audience (tat's generally composed of 75% Chinese, 15% Malays and only abt 6% Indians)..it was a pretty intriguing experience. Prior to tat, using a Tamil song piece for a general ad like that was an unthinkable proposition.
  
  I mus say anyone can fall in luv with ARR's songs. That is his magix. AIMHO.

  curses, wow!.. who told you this?, you seem to know the inside news .
  
  btw: did you hear this, .. mani Sharma has built a studio in Hyderdrabad which is also the state of art with some complex digital mixing capabilties. Most of us know that he has a studio in chennai too (called:Mahadi) , so whats big about it?. The interesting thing to note here is he was trying to setup a leased t1 line to tranfer data across these 2 studios. :)
  
  Looks like every musician today is trying hard to setup his/her own studio!, it is a remarkable growth , thanks to "we all know who!".....those magical 3 letters :):)
