Where was Kavithai kelungal filmed?

Does anyone know where the song Kavithai kelungal from Punnagai Mannan was filmed? It is a lovely place with mountains, ponds and very nice temples. Was the whole movie shot is 1 place?

  Well, the song seq. was shot in a village called Paimpozhil near Courtalam in Tirunelveli Dist., TN. The other song "enna saththam intha neram" and the falls they suicide is in Kerala (forgot the name, though!). The movie wasn't shot in 1 place!

  FYI, I visited Chalakkodi falls in May 1996, and yes that is a spectacular place. Markings of Punnagai Mannan still remains there.

  Part of the song 'Kavithai kELungaL' was shot at 'ThiRparappu', near Nagercoil and areas around that place. It's a beautiful location, with a soothing mid-size waterfall, a river, stone bridges, Mandapams and an ancient MahAdeva temple.
  You may recall the films AaN pAvam, Pagal Nilavu, nAn pAdum PAdal, Varsham 16 etc. which were filmed at the same site.

  Belur Hoysala art temple in Karnataka has been used for most of Bharathanatiyam songs...It is the same temple where Om Arunachaleswaraya Nama from Arunachalam was shot. It also features in Shankarabaranam and quite lot of movies.

  chalakudi is a very nice place. when i visited there i met maniratnam and madhavan who were in the shooting of the song "oru deivam thantha poovae" from the movie "kannathil muthamittaal".

  bb, Uyire from Bombay was shot in Bekal Fort near Mangalore, Karnataka. It is small cute little village by the sea. I think what remains there now is the ruins of some old fort. I went there in 1997 with classmates from college.

  If you plan to go to Nagercoil (Kanyakumari Distt.), apart from ThiRparappu you should visit the beautiful
  1. Padmanabha Puram Palace (setting for many movies like Varusham 16, Manichithira Thaazh, His Highness Abdullah etc.)
  2. Vattakkottai (alaigaL oyvathilai, punnagai mannan)
  3. Suchindram (great temple, with amazing sculptures and Saptaswara pillars), also the location for Mridanga Chakravarthy
  4. Muttom Beach (Bharati rAja's favorite: AlaigaL Oyvathillai, KadalOra KavithaigaL, Kadal PookkaL were all shot there)

  Nope. That song was shot in Chalakudi Falls only. The big statue and other sculptures.. i believe is the work of Sabu Cyril :)

  it was not shot in srilanka.the Buddha statue is a set by sabucyril.moreover the place they are showing in the film "mangulam" was not shot in srilanka,it was shot in forests of chalakkudi and somewhereelse.once there was a coverstory in kumudam[during the prabakaran meeting] they wrote about srilanka.in that one they stated maniratnam showed some mountains and cool forest as mangulam but realy there was no forests and not even a single hill.we the students of RMDCH met mathavan and maniratnam there in chalakkudi.iam even having the photos of the sets which we took there.
  it was a fantastic work by sabucyril,sabu made a stage set for our college funtion too.
