Hi RajaFans
There no Tamilan or Indian bla bla's
He was prasied by all the people of the socity,
for the great work, but where is his great work!
did any one read ananda vikitan few months ago - it says why raja is still dodging all his fans.
Given an answer to it instead of cursing AR and others.

The same Ananda Vikatan said he will mostly release it this New Year. Srikanth, who cursed ARR
in this thread? Nobody. IR may have his own reasons for not releasing it. Mostly financial I guess. I dont think why he shouldnt expect lots of
money for his symphony. Perhaps that is one of the
main reasons for the long delay. By the way, whom
should he be afraid of to release his symphony?
The fact that he was invited to compose a symphony
was an achievement by itself. There may be criticisms for his symphony but that in no way
undermines his feat.

Let's stop all the fight here. I would like for someone
knowledgeable instead to write on what exactly is a symphony. I seems
to me like we all shoot out this word without knowing what is
syn/caco phony. Guru are you still around? how about you rex?

Dear Friends,
You all want to know what a Symphony is ?
Buy these cassettes -
1. PAUL MARIAUT'S " Classics in the Air - 3 "
Listen to the Symphonies of Beethoven and Mozart - IT IS AN EXHILARATING EXPERIENCE !!
At the first instance itself , a keen ear would identify the melodic components, the various melodic movements, the depth in the notes, the complexities which are in fact very simple to experience within yourself, the smooth , lucid flow of the music from one part to the other - it is exactly a form of art drawn in music with a pattern which is undefinable - it can only be listened to and experienced- not even enjoyed.
If you don't get this cassette , try listening to
IR's BGM in "IDHAYATHAI THIRUDAADHEY " which itself is a mini Symphony from the Maestro ; like this I can quote hundreds of IR's works - let us not veer away from the topic.
DO ANY OF HAVE ANY IDEA AS TO THE LONGEST SYMPHONY COMPOSED ?
Check out in the Guinness Book - it says the longest Symphony is an hour and a half long.
DO YOU KNOW HOW LONG ILLAYARAAJA'S SYMPHONY IS ?
ONE HOUR - Perhaps one of the few longest Symphonies ever recorded in the history of the WORLD !!
MIND YOU, THE ROYAL PHILHARMONIC ORCHESTRA , LONDON, UK, is 500 YEARS OLD !!
TO GET A CALL FROM RPO TO COMPOSE A SYMPHONY IS NOT ANYTHING SIMPLE.
ANOTHER PIECE OF INFO ( EXPERIENCE ) I would like to put down here - recently I met some foreign tourists here in Goa, who had come from U.K. - they said that what is MBA to Harvard, is Western Classical Music to RPO, London.
This is for ADHIGAPPRASANGIS like one Mr.Srikanth who keep asking questions that at the most either irritate an ardent music lover like me or just make me shrug my shoulders in sympathy at his blatant ignorance.
PLEASE DO NOT PASS COMMENTS, WITHOUT KNOWING WHAT OR WHOM YOU ARE TALKING ABOUT.

Classics in the Air (3 vols) is a good start to start listening to Western Classical music but keep in mind that this is not WC music. These are only re-arranged versions. Paul Mauriat is not a original composer; he just arranges hit music. Anyway in Classics in the Air PM does not arrange many symphonic material - in Vol 3 I think there is Beethoven's 5th symphony and I think in vol2 there Beethoven's 9th and Mozart's 40th. Most of the other are tunes from violin concertos (Vivaldi's Four Seasons), overtures (Rachmaninoff) etc.
If you want a good start to actual symphonic music start with Mozart's 25th symphony. This tune has been used in Titan Watches commercial and you can identify with the tune immediately. Mozart's 40th is also very tuneful and listener-friendly. (Salil Choudhry used this tune in a Hindi song). Beethoven's 4th, 6th (Pastoral) and 7th symphonies are also good starting points. Once you can appreciate these you can graduate to the greatest Beethoven's 5th and 9th (choral - the only symphony where choir is used).

Well, Even if IR releases his symphony, it's going
to sell probably much less than half the number of copies of "vande Maatharam" (i wasted $14 on this peice of Sh..) sold. Maybe a few hardcore IR fans like me would buy it immediately and enjoy.
At the same time, a number like "Pettai rap" or
a crap number from Deva (re-cycled for the n'th
time ) would be a better hit and be on the Top 10
list well above IR's best melodies. That's the state of affairs :-( So no point in Blaming IR!!
At the same time, there's no point in Blaming ARR/Deva too.. As long as the masses don't care
abt originality , they will continue to re-cycle stuff - ..
Last time when i was in India , i saw an ad for
hosieries with "Sony" name on it.? Talk abt Intellectual property rights.?? It shows in music also.???

Hi,
As Mr.Msk points out that might happen to the great work..
I have good news!,
I spoke Karthick Raja regarding this some months ago, he told me the symphony might be released soon, but score will be performed by local artists.
It might be realsed for the Tamil new years Day
This news looks confirmed as Ananda Vikitan also mentions this.

I dont think IR fans need to jump and bawl out his symphony stuff with the rest of the crowd. A true IR fan knows what the Raaja is capable of. "Ennudaiya isai pudhumaigaL innum irunooru varudangaLukku pinnarum pEsappadum!!"
Just think of those words!! Summa pEsappadakkoodiaya vArthaigaLA adhu?? To me symphony can be only the tip of the iceberg!!!
His musical wonders are yet to come! And they are!! So why fight? Stay cool!!
Hmmm! Two words? "Ellam nEram!!"
"In judging of others a man laboreth in vain, often erreth, and easily sinneth; but in judging
and examining himself, he always laboreth fruitfully."

Hi,
The reason I started this is, I Know many will point finger against me and screm at me, if by chance IR visits this page, he might consider to release seeing huge number of fans behind him,
We can all enjoy it.
As a fan one should not be a "Jalra", we should also pin point the mistakes of our Idol.....,this will help them to grow!, ("pls dont say -Raja has already grown, who r u to talk about his growth")
As far has music goes, till the notes SA/RE/Ga/ma/pa/da/ni/sa/ remains and cmaj/Am/G7th chords remain in the world , Raja's name will be there...
Thanks , I close this issue now!, Lets us all hope by god's grace the Symphony is out by Tamil new year.....
Happy new year guys,
Srikanth

Guys, Raja's symphony is a much awaited thing at ll musical stores, anywhere in the US, I believe. He is not finding any big labels to release it internationally. Therefore, it may not be released until he finds the right marketing company.
As far as Sony and ARR is concerned, I knew that I was not going to buy that piece of s when it was released this year.

Hi,
I also read somewhere that Raja, is looking for an international brand like BMG, Sony.. to release his symphony, so that it reaches the western classical listeners, and gets appreciated.

Thomas Kemphis quotation use seidhu asathhivittergal pongal - ungaludaiya posting padithhadhum manadhirkku niraivaaga irundhadhu - adhaavadhu IR music kettadhu pol irundhadhu !!
This is for Mr.Srikanth - I have already sent e-mail to you explaining my outburst against you - irundhaalum, yellor munnilaiyil, naan adhigammaga unarchivasappattuvittaen yenbadhai oppukkolgiraen.
Dear Sathiya Keerthi,
Mr.Srikanth is really PERIYA ALLUPPA - he says that the BGM of recently released John Travolta's " Phenomenon " sounds like IR's BGM in his earlier movies - he also says that the title music for James Bond movie " Tomorrow Never Dies " sounds like IR's " OH ! BUTTERFLY " from "MEERA" !!!!
Can anyone in this thread please watch and listen to the BGM of " Phenomenon" and TOmorrow Never Dies and confirm this ????!
If this is true , then are the HOllywood people copying IR's works ??

Someone has mentioned about the BGM of Isaignani
Ilayaraaja, in Idhayathai Thirudathe!!
Actually that masterpiece is taken from Isaignani
Ilayaraaja's, MOZART I LOVE YOU.., from the album
NOTHING BUT WIND.
This piece reminds us of the western symphony because
it has a beautiful, mellifluous start with the violins
giving out a enthusiastic start.
All IR's fans should listen or would have listened to
MOZART I LOVE YOU... It is simply great and astounding.

Dear Rex,
When I mentioned about the BGM of " IDHAYATHTHAI THIRUDAADHEY " , I did not mean the piece from
" Nothing But Wind " alone - in fact, listen very carefully to thwe title music, when Nagarjuna is taken in a stretcher in the Hospital - unbelievable MUSIC !! adhuvey oru mini- symphony !!
Throughout the movie, the BGM IS SIMPLY TERRRRRRRRRIFIC !!!!!!!

Dear Madhan.,
I do accept your response in toto.
As many people used to refer Idhayathai Thirudathe BGM, to that specific piece, I was compelled to mention about Mozart I love you.
Yes! I do concur with you completly, that IR's BGM in that movie was terrific.

I have heard that IR will not release his symphony for some more years! He is right now busy with movies once again.
That is one problem. The other one is when Indian 24 hours was released as a CD even though it was for a documentary film, why did they not release the miss world music? Does Amitabh Bachchan hold the rights to it? Why can't he release the album then?
